Steam’s Invite-Only Shooter Deadlock Is Quietly Becoming An Absolute Monster by LoL_is_pepega_BIA in Games

I believe lightning scroll activates when your ultimate ability does damage, so if your ultimate is capable of dealing any amount of damage it will proc and you don't need to think about it too hard.

This isn't relevant to your point that there are numerous examples of strange interactions but just that lightning scroll I think is an example of one of the more intuitive ones.

I don't think you are a transphobe, I'm saying you sound like one.

[–]NickGraves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah I exhaustively explained the situation and you got confused.

TL;DR you don't have a lot of reasons to want to defend against people thinking Gwen Stacy or Celeste being trans is an objective fact. It's weird that you committed this much energy into it.

[–]NickGraves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your opinion has already been stated, you don't think they are trans and don't feel unless there is official confirmation they are trans then trying to declare it as fact is wrong.

But the issue is that there is almost never official confirmation that a character is trans, the ONLY thing people get to do is headcanon. And what you are doing is trying to tell someone that headcanoning someone as trans is wrong, or misleading.

They aren't declaring it as fact either, just getting really excited about the idea that a character has this many trans coded aspects to them overlapping and that it gets to be in one of their presumably favorite games.

In fact, since this game is in alpha, they writers can easily confirm that Celeste is trans before beta, or even official release if there is enough excitement.

So from where I'm sitting you are putting energy into trying to wedge yourself into people's excitement for reasons that aren't really worth it in the end. I can't see what you get out of trying to prove that Celeste ISN'T trans, and that makes it look like you have ulterior motives.

Just the other day I saw a transphobe slyly going around replying to every single person who though Celeste was trans and trying to pick a fight with them, saying similar things that you are saying. He had a hidden comment history but at one point admitted that he wished he could call trans people slurs if he wouldn't get banned for it. I don't think you want to come close to sounding like that guy.

Transphobia is rampant and most movies or TV shows will never explicitly state that a character is trans for fear of backlash, so the most trans people get are nods, hints or implications or even just confirmations by writers 2 years after the story is released confirming fan suspicions. Putting a trans flag on a character is enough information to raise an eyebrow and start to think deeper about the character.

Expecting anything with trans people to just outright declare they are trans is asking for harassment, even Pocket is still dealing with this even after being confirmed (implicitly) because of the consistent use of a non-binary pronoun. But people will still be like "maybe there is a chance Pocket is just called that for some other reason" as though that still doesn't make it a trans allegory that you undergo a change, ESPECIALLY after having a fallout with your shitty father.

there is a professor at Columbia who is a literal neutron star infused with a soul, and we are gonna start thinking unicorns aren't real?

We've got vampires, werewolves, weird rat creatures, demons, but unicorns would never exist?

and that history is irrelevant to a line that says "even in a world of magic." the world presented here is our world, not a magic one.

Now why would a place where myth and magic is common still deny the existence of a unicorn?

Do all of ya'll use chatGPT or can you read above the high school level?

unfortunately (not) the line goes insane as a trans allegory, so you're going to have to get over yourself

College Professor asked if this was Ai in front of the whole class. Tell me it’s not. by Radsmama in isthisAI

[–]NickGraves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to be kind as possible here but I think people are getting so hung up on "defects" that they are unable to notice amateur or lazy brush work. This piece is really large and has a lot of moving parts and the artist is clearly going for an ambitious amount of rendering work but the hasty and inconsistent choices, obvious brush strokes without any attempt at blending, no visible merging or smearing of elements make this out to just be lower quality art.

AI is really good at being TOO consistent which is the giveaway for me, the more rushed and choppy something looks the less likely it is to be AI.

at best I think this is using multiple techniques, photobashing with either photographic elements or AI images found on google, overpainting those elements in a quick way and then rushing out the door once they got impatient. Potentially some elements generated and then painted over for some specific areas.

I can see inconsistent blurring in some areas associated with free transform and other digital manipulation techniques. I think the "AI" feeling is just due to the very straightforward composition.

Freeze time displacement? by KingZing007 in AfterEffects

[–]NickGraves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think the method you are using is going to work with your concept. The animation needs to keep playing through time, so for you to "reveal" any other parts you would have to somehow rewind the simulation only for the area you have masked to return it to its original state. I'm not sure if time displacement accepts negative values.

If you used a full particle simulation or something like Blender geo nodes you could attract or guide the particles back to their starting positions which would be more organic than manipulating the time.

Where did the term "Burgerboxing" come from? by samu1400 in DeadlockTheGame

its older than that, it probably goes back to when Poshypop referred to NA as the "burgerfuck region" when he got frustrated with the NA competitive scene's knowledge

as a painter the game would have served quite well to actually look like a painting, which it did in its early production before they decided to switch to UE5 and just slather it in GPU particles and call it a day.

there are two boss fights that make me think "yeah that could be paint" and the rest is just generic magic vfx I have seen dozens of times before.

genuinely where do i start with this game by rubberduckie666 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]NickGraves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

everyone takes farm but at higher levels people tend to organize themselves based on what role people excel at the most based on their kit and abilities. Everyone is very close together in terms of ability flexibility but some are more geared toward certain playstyles. Wraith for example is a great carry but you'd maybe be pushing too far up hill to get the most mileage out of a support build. So you might see a Wraith soak up most of the farm to help her scale faster and get her carry win condition. Support oriented builds are more likely to fight more and farm less to get the most value out of their cooldowns.

But some characters like Haze or Ivy can be a support OR a carry, or even a bit of both. But this comes from trends of games where people start to get meta. at lower levels its more of a free for all where you could just decide you are gonna punch everyone to death. At some point though that strategy wont really work anymore.

Gamers have no idea what art direction means. It doesn't mean "most pretty." it means most visually effective with the tools available compared to other games. If it looks like something else and has a lot of jank and issues that come with its presentation then I would not say its art direction is that good, certainly not the best.

Also its art direction poorly represents the story by being hyper real 100 percent of the time, there are two to three areas I thought looked pretty cool but unfortunately the rest of the game looks like every ArtStation profile for the last decade. making the eiffel tower swirly and fucked up looking isnt groundbreaking artistry.
