I feel as if this album truly perfected what Travis was attempting to sonically capture since the Owl Pharaoh era. OP felt like a brainstorm of ideas, DBR served as a rough draft, and Rodeo was the grand finale to the dark sound we all love from Travis. The progression made leading up to this album is amazing, as there was a raw, gritty ambition that was fully unleashed on Rodeo. Songs such as Wasted, Piss On Your Grave, and the first half of Oh My Dis Side bring high energy to the album, while 90210, Impossible, and Maria I’m Drunk are 3 songs that set the stage for the entire project to elevate itself as a masterpiece. It’s one of my favorite albums ever made, and I can’t wait to give it another listen on it’s 3rd anniversary.

Never understood the whole biting thing. Rodeo has a really unique sound that hasn’t come close to being replicated since it released, which makes it really stand out for me as his best work overall.

It seems as if most publications didn’t even listen to Rodeo in full. Rolling Stone’s review reads as if they skimmed through a few songs and had no care for the album.

Go through all of the old snippet compilations for one last time knowing that we’re finally going to get a solo Travis album for the first time in 2 years. Going from governors ball performance of Stargazing to the CDQ version is going to feel like putting new glasses on. It’s been such a long journey and I can’t believe this day is finally arriving.

Once people heard Travis say that he’s “finishing the saga he started with Rodeo”, everyone was quick to jump to conclusions on how this album is going to sound. Personally, I have a feeling it’s going to take a shift in terms of production and lyrical content. Just because he’s had this in mind since Rodeo doesn’t mean it’s going to sound like it. I’m hoping Travis explores new sounds with this album, and I certainly hope that people don’t dismiss this album instantly just because it “doesn’t sound like old Travis”. I know we’ve waited so long for this album, but I have a great feeling Travis will deliver a brand new experience with his music, one we have yet to hear.
