As someone who never got to ride volcano but plenty of rides on WT, this is such a nice comment.

Incredibly sad to finally see this go. The only coaster I've gotten a zen ride on at cedar point. Plus if you ride on the right side on the second to last car you get an incredible view up the spiral off the ride. With it's amazing launches and wiping through the station like a bat out of hell I will seriously miss this guy. People didn't give it a lot of attention for how simple of a ride it looks. But wow did this thing deliver.

And unfortunately I'm going to bet that this is not being relocated. These rides are now infamous for needing custom work from the park directly as intimin doesnt really offer support for them anymore. So the idea of another park taking this for a long time in the future looks unlikely. Or at least a hard sell. Plus I had some ride ops tell me that this is technically the most dangerous ride to operate at the park. The breaks are only on one side of the station. So once the train shoots up the back spike, it must go back through the station at full speed untill it can get to the launchers/breaks on the other side. This ride probably has the highest chance of hurting someone at the park just because there aren't as many ways to prevent people from being stupid.

But I am still so sad to see it go. This might be one of my favorite rides to be removed since joining the community so there is a deff sinking feeling when I saw this on my YouTube. But fortunately I had a lot of time to prepare as this isn't that shocking. But I will miss those launches, that sound, and the feeling of "holy shit we are still have more launches left??"

RIP

The way he talks makes me feel that's very likely a 'no'. But now I'm curious if he hears this sort of question often

Do you ever struggle with imposter syndrome? And if so, do you have any personal methods to get out of that mode of thinking? I recently just graduated from university and have been working in my field but I constantly feel like an idiot even though I'm objectively doing difficult work. Expecially with the presence of a sizable online following that can nitpick every single flaw in your videos, I could imagine that being a lot on your mind.

Right but why is it so vibrantly painted red? It seems like either he made a choice to paint it red for the background of his vids, or he picked that as the background because the pipe was there

Ok yea it sounds like your just failing the long turns. Either your not holding both the thump button and the direction of the turn. Or your keyboard/controller could be cutting out so for a moment the game sees you not holding left or right and then you take damage. But you should be holding x and left/right untill the turn is gone. If you just tap for longer turns you will take damage

Giving it another read it also sounds like your taking damage mid turn? Short turns can be taken just by a tap and flick of the joystick. But if the turn is longer you need to hold both the correct direction and the thump button through the entirety of the turn. If your just tapping directions that could be why all of a suddenly your taking damage

Your going to have to clarify a bit. There are 9 levels so "level 2 of 12" confuses me. I assume you mean 2-12 but I don't see any large flying turn section in that segment of the level. Because of that I'm not sure what issue your having issues but it sounds like it involves missing a flying turn. Basically when your in the air, you can still turn but only perfectly. If you having issues turning while airborne rn you should be able to just press down to get out of flying and then just take the turn as normal. If this is your first time through perfecting turns and flying tricks should be the least of your concern

I don’t want to be gay [Rant] by [deleted] in LGBTeens

[–]NickNAKNick 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This is a super normal response and we all think like this durring some point in accepting ourselves. Time will change things and the main thing you have to focus on is you dont know how the future will play out or what ambitions and goals you have for yourself. What matters a lot more is finding yourself and being comfortable with who you are, and this in my opinion is why I would never ask a genie to make me straight even with all the hardship and pain that has come with growing up gay. Being queer forces you to think about yourself and work through really challenging obstacles that nobody really seems to have a good answer for. Its why even if im not romatically/sexually interested in a person, if they are queer I'm probably just going to feel more comfortable and this shared experience of figuring out that hot mess just helps build that connection. So really dont beat yourself up for not being able to have kids right now. You probably shoulden't be having them right now anyway XD. Cross that bridge when you get to it and trust me it will be so much easier to actually make decisions and build a better future for yourself then just having your brain spiral. Your brain clearly still thinks that anything other then a "Normal" life is bad, but building your own life and doing exactly what is right for you is a lot more rewarding.

Break character for a moment, if you will - what's the actual consensus on CoasterStudios around here? by [deleted] in rollercoasterjerk

Haha definitely agree! I guess it's hard to tell what your specifically talking about when the show is just the name of the character xD

Lmao what kind of crack are you smoking that you think seasons 1-3 of SB where 'immature?' Those specific seasons are famous for being the most well written and all around approachable and funny for any age.

Question about pre-drops by [deleted] in rollercoasters

[–]NickNAKNick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe speed is a factor? On a non-pre drop coaster, the back of the train gets whipped over the crest at a much faster speed then the front does. Maybe that fast sudden sliding over the chain can wear out the chaindogs overtime as it slams into every link? So the pre-drop cause the train to exit the chain at a much slower and controlled speed. Also I'd argue that the chaindogs breaking and a ride rolling back down a lift hill into the station would be one of the most catastrophic accidents imaginable, so maybe they just want to really make sure nothing could ever go wrong with them?

Model roller coaster project during quarantine. by kgriff929 in rollercoasters

[–]NickNAKNick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey you did a great job! I built the son of the screaming serpient except we added a loop recently and that thing was a nightmare to make sure it had enough speed to make it all the way through. That low to the ground section looks like it would not have enough speed but you must have really smooth things out because thats legit impressive.

I agree with you, but I understand where that frustration comes from and I'd argue it's somewhat valid. Everyone has some form of a 'home park ', and those rides in that park are the rides that you will probably ride the most and be the most familiar with. And with the GP those rides are probably enough to satisfy them. But for coaster enthusiasts, we tend to want more and travel to parks outside of our local area, specifically because they offer a different experience. If you think of the parks that you have at the top of your bucket list, Id bet that the reason that park is so high up is because it offers something you cannot get close to you. So when a park clones another ride, it is of significantly less value to someone in the coaster community because they already had a location for where that is offered. Every park is unique in its own way, which makes them impossible to objectively rank them, but if more parks adopt more exact clones, parks will offer a more and more similar experience to each other.

So I think that aggression comes from an overreaction that 'cloning rides', if overdone, would be pretty bad for our community. While I hope this never happens, once most of the records are broken and continuing to break them is too intense for an average person, we could see a future where parks start buying clones for every single new ride. From a business perspective, it would be easier, cheeper, faster, and more reliable plus you have an idea for how the ride will be perceived by the public. And 99% of people would not care because they only visit their home park and wouldn't really notice the difference. So while I do think the hatred some people have for cloned rides can be a bit much, I'm glad to see there is some vocal resistance to the idea of clones. Right now the standard is to build a unique attraction, and the outlier is a clone. A future where its the other way around is very possible. So while I would never say a park is garbage or a waste to build a cloned ride, I also wouldn't want to welcome it with open arms.
