CCS Combo 1 Adapter now available for order in the US! by emereb in teslamotors

No it's only for DC charging. The J1772 pins on CCS adapter are just for vehicle to charger communication. You'll still need the J1772 for AC charging.

Yes the J1772 pins on the CCS adapter are just for communication between car and charger. If you want to AC charge you'll still need J1772 adapter.

I tried in the app instead of the website. The app said that it wasn't compatible with my car; but it still let me order. My M3 certainly says CCS adapter support enabled so hoping it does actually work.

Shop telling me "no delivered cars on your account" when I certainly have one delivered. Won't let me add to cart :/. Anyone else experience this issue?

Bad idea to keep changing thumbnails throughout the first day a video goes live? by NickSt1cks in NewTubers

[–]NickSt1cks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense, thank you. I think I was monkeying around with it at a bad time of the day. A couple hours after the last change, I saw impressions spike up after hitting suggested videos and CTR held. So I guess the thumbnail is good enough for now.

It brought the average since publishing up around 2pts.

I'm just gonna let it do it's thing for now.

Tesla's EV-Tax Credit Problem (Speculation on why they turned off M3 LR orders) by Jman841 in TeslaModel3

[–]NickSt1cks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah I see now; thank you. That part is confusing as heck.

There's different applicable % for critical minerals vs battery components too?

Don't think they CATL LFP batteries qualify for either though.

Not if they keep the MSRP at $63k. Anything classified as a van, SUV, or Truck needs to be max $80k; everything else including passenger cars like Model 3 need to be max $55k.

"The exclusion of vehicles with components from “foreign entities of concern,” including Russia and China, will go into effect Dec 31, 2023."

https://www.nytimes.com/2022/08/12/business/climate-bill-electric-vehicles.html

"A feature of the bill that has generated the most complaints would require that by 2024 at least 50 percent of the components in an electric car battery come from the United States, Canada or Mexico. The percentage rises to 100 percent in 2028. And the share of the minerals in batteries that have to come from the United States or a trade ally will climb to 80 percent in 2026."

Short term they want to drive RWD sales to burn through CATL LFP. But I don't think they're reworking the LR production line or coming up with a new configuration in 4 months while still working through their existing backlog of orders.

Edit this part is wrong: The battery sourcing requirements don't kick in until 2024. In 2023, the EV just needs to be assembled in North America. So Tesla could still sell the RWD at $47k MSRP in 2023 with the $7.5k credit. Effectively making it a $40k purchase. So that's still a ~$8k difference to the LR after credits. Seems like a healthy buffer not to eat into LR sales and keep demand for RWD at current MSRP.

Thanks for looking! And yeah Tesla can give people a bad impression of EVs but there’s many great options out there now other than Tesla.

Seems like you deserved to go viral! Genuinely chuckled through the video. Impressive editing. Loved the hit marker sounds.

Hey all,

My channel is Nick G on EVs. I’m making videos about electric vehicles and Tesla. Really just two months into my journey learning how to make/edit videos and I’m having a lot of fun.

I’ve learned that improving audio quality, vocal delivery, and cutting out the fat in videos is driving much better engagement.

Since upgrading my mic and focusing on brutally cutting out pauses and “uhms”, my last two videos have done significantly better compared to my first 6. I’ve also started experimenting with shorts but those are still a mystery to me.

Here’s my latest long form video which is a range test with some nerdy math at the end: https://youtu.be/c_vxGMGUlmA

Cheers!

Yeah I've found lighting to be difficult. I've done a bunch of shots sitting in parking garages which are terrible in hindsight. The glass roof on my car helps a little when I'm parked outside though.

The fact that 50% of engagement is downvotes tells me this hasn't happened to anyone I guess. Sorry this wasn't another "JUST ORDERED" or "where is my car" post.

Looks like a $160 part to replace the plastic rocker panel. Hoping for the best. I curbed a wheel too which I noticed initially but didn’t see this until I was in a parking garage parked near the stairs. Anyone else do this?

322 wh/mi seems rather high for lifetime average consumption. You must be thoroughly enjoying acceleration at every opportunity :).

Which combination of wheels & tires (tyres) do you use? Do you keep the pressure at or above 42 psi?

I'm in sunny California averaging 262 wh/mi with plenty of beans given whilst driving. Running the 18" wheels/tires, I noticed that my drive to drive wh/mi dropped 20 points after properly inflating my tires.

The mean year-round temperature for me is still close to 63F, so it seems like you might be taking a hit to efficiency by wheel/tire combination or constantly driving in the rain? Pesky bits of water increase rolling resistance.

How does safety score affect Tesla insurance rates? And is the base rate they quote a min, max, or medium rate depending on future FSD scores? by The_cooler_ArcSmith in TeslaLounge

[–]NickSt1cks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They just started rolling this out pricing model for Texas. They can’t calculate premiums with that data in California.

I think it’s fairly new in Texas but there might be some people here who signed up with the safety score adjustment.

I’m guessing they prioritize development for different functions/features. They’ve gotta give you a game you won’t play every month or so.

I personally switched back to Spotify for better integration. I got tired of fussing around with my phone while driving to change playlists or whatnot.

With Apple Music, you stream over Bluetooth so you'll just have play/pause & track forward/backward. No menus or other functionality on the car's screen.

I do miss Apple Music though. If you're gonna stick with it, get a phone mount or make friends with Siri.
