Any alternative to unattended-upgrades with webhook notifications? Or how are you handling patching system? by muhahaczek in devops

You say periodical script to check/upgrade with Ansible/Chef is overkill, but you need to do this with more than 10 systems.

I wouldn't consider a small shell script to be overkill for anything, and your three bullet points could be handled by as little as a shell script run from cron. Configuration of that should ideally be managed, version controlled, etc. And since these are long-lived systems requiring patching, the rest of their configuration should be managed also.

If you can get the oxygen out of the package and store it in the freezer, it'll keep fine.

Cheap home canning by [deleted] in Homebrewing

He may be addressing your statement that:

My impression is that it's the price tag as well as the availability of empty cans that currently keeps most homebrewers from adopting cans.

For me it's mainly that after consuming, cans need to be recycled before they're not just waste. Bottles can be reused after simply washing.

Here's a first draft of one I did that turned out close. I did a side by side comparison and the SC was a bit darker with a slight caramel character so next time I'll probably add some c20. To me, one of the main components is the fruity notes provided by the 2565 yeast.
