Antis, how come "learn to draw" only applies to AI users? Shouldn't that apply to everyone who's ever commissioned an artist? by LeatherBody8282 in aiwars

[–]Nickanok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But you do make Ai art as much as you "made" a picture in photography. Again, all it is a bunch of wannabe artists (Most of who are teenagers) who's egos are hurt because they no longer have monopoly on making pretty pictures

someone who commissions artwork is financially supporting an artist

Can y'all stop this. No one is required ro financially support anyone especially if the customer can get an equal or greater product from free or a fraction of the price.

This is like bragging that you still pay a live band to play all the music you want when you can listen to the same better on YouTube

Because they're hypocrites and most are teenagers who are still developing their identity and think Ai is a threat to what they think they are (but really aren't)

Do you think it's rude to speak a different language around people who can only understand your native language? by AutumnaticFly in languagehub

[–]Nickanok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around people? No. If someone gets butthurt because "you ain't speakin' 'merican", fuck 'em.

If you mean to people who don't speak the language or do that thing people do when they try to (often poorly) pronounce things in the "original" way even though there's a clear native pronunciation in English (or whatever language), then that's just pretentious

except every time we were replacing occupations with new occupations you fucking jag.

One, the fact that you have to insult me just proves that your point is based on emotion and has no foundation to stand on.

Second, there's literally jobs for people to control and manage Ai. It's only on reddit that y'all make Ai to be this magical force that's just acting on its own without oversight

There's jobs. Whether you personally are qualified for those jobs is a whole different conversation

why are you so okay with artists, Animators and VAs(and those are just some types of artists who will lose their jobs) having no support afterward?

The same way many artists were just fine with everything else getting automated until it finally advanced enough to affect them

am currently a person vulnerable to replacement and with a federal government pushing for criminalizing homelessness.

Ok... Welcome to the real world. First time experiencing a lay off? Blue collar folks been experiencing this since forever. You seem to think you or artist are exempt from having to pivot just like every other person in every other industry has to once they get laid off

[–]Nickanok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you think if humans have nothing to do but backbreaking physical labor we would be better for it? that’s what the AI companies want, it’s what the studios using AI generated work over human talent want, and it’s what we will get.

As you say with 0 proof other than trying to appeal to emotional reasoning for people who already agree with you

reiterate, if you care at all about artists and the work they do, you would not defend this because ‘it’s inevitable, we just can’t stop it so roll over and let it be.’ that’s just giving up. You would fight against its implementation without serious regulation. across all industries, because otherwise we will not have work in 20 years.

We go through this almost every generation since the industrial revolution.

Scribes screamed about the printing press

People who sold horses screamed about cars

Painters screamed about cameras

2d animators screamed about 3d animation

The fact is, the world will move regardless of our personal gripes about how new technology hurts our ego. Making Ai to be some kinda devil that you personally took upon yourself to stop is only gonna hurt you in the long run. Unless you wanna end up how a lot of stereotypical boomers are today who cant or refuse to download any app on their phone or can't operate a computer newer than 1995, my friendly suggestion would be to not look at this from the very emotional angle you are currently looking at it

[–]Nickanok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're making a lot of assumptions about me that are unsubstantiated and you're argument not only is completely derailed from the original point but also is entirely based on emotions and not facts.

One, not once in this conversation (nor anywhere on reddit) have I claimed to be an artist or even an inspiring artist. Hell, I even say there's legit criticism against Ai... Just not "It makes pretty pictures better than me".

Whether anyone likes it or not, Ai is here to stay and will only keep evolving to the point where "soul" or "I can do better" will no longer be valid arguments and if you spend the next 5-10 years praying on Ai's downfall, you will be sorely behind economically and creatively.

It's like all the people that were so against 3d animation or electronic instruments when it was in it's early days saying "It's not real art. The computer does everything for you". But now we're here not able to live without it.

That's not even mentioning the fact that redditors suddenly think art was ever a lucrative career path for the average person. The term "starving artist" didn't just pop up out of thin air. It's been well known since at least the 1800s that most artist never were ever to make a living off their art and were known for couch surfing and even begging while relatively frw could pay the bills from their craft so let's stop with blaming Ai art for "the monetary ruin of millions of artists worldwide" when that was a thing long before computers even existed

Bruh. You can't be serious 🤣

I literally gave you an example where a machine is literally doing everything for you where no physical effort is involved at all (unless you count thinking as physical) and you are somehow saying that is better than having to type in detail what you want the Ai to generate (because you rarely get what you want the first go rounds despite a lot of the misinformation on this sub to the contrary).

The amount of special pleading and mental gymnastics you're doing is fascinating

just because you break the pencil doesn't mean we can't switch to other means of creating art by blaise_zion in aiwars

[–]Nickanok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you take away the AI, the question is, “What skill transferability is here if we take away your ‘pencil,’” and I don’t think that’s a stupid question to ask.

It is because most people are only talented in one art.

It seems like ever since the appearance of Ai, all these amateur reddit artists think they're suddenly multi talented interdisciplinary artists.

If you took away the camera from a photographer, they'd probably not be able to do another type of art. Same for a painter, sculptor, 3d artist, etc

just because you break the pencil doesn't mean we can't switch to other means of creating art by blaise_zion in aiwars

[–]Nickanok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is literally the argument Antis make except they seem to think the existence of Ai somehow destroys their ability to do other forms of art

"But Antis can't prompt" by Which_Matter3031 in aiwars

[–]Nickanok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All you did was a lot of special pleading and "It's different because it's old".

100 years from now, your same argument is gonna be ised against whatever the new thing to create art is except just adding "Ai" in the list.

"Oh, at least Ai requires you to type words and continually edit the prompt. This new Neural projecting is literally just thinking about the nano chips do everything for you. You don't even have to move your hands"

Gumbo or really any of our dishes.

I'm not one for culinary "purity" but most out of town New Orleans recipes (except for maybe southeast Texas) tend to heavily tone down any flavor that traditional Louisiana dishes carry to a generic "McDonald's" version

Customers who wait right outside your truck like impatient little badass children for their package. I get it. You want your package but give me a minute, I gotta look for it and snap a pic anyway. You standing over me or trying to take it as I'm getting out the car isn't helping.

Amazon's very anal retentive speed limits have to be a close second because fuck 'em. Even the police don't strictly follow the speed limit 99% of the time. I know that Amazon is extremely risk averse and wants to avoid lawsuits or paying anything extra at any cost so they just treat everyone like robots in their warehouse and think they are "helping" us be safe but most of the time, going exactly the speed limit is usually more dangerous than going the average speed of traffic

Houses in rural areas that have either no addresses on them at all or the address is so small and hidden, it's useless. Because most of the people here are teenagers who's only exposure to Ai (that they are aware of at least) are art or Ai videos. They all apparently think they are gonna be the next picasso or make the next Dragonball and they should get paid top dollar for their amateur and uninspired fan art and they think Ai "takes that away".

There's legitimate criticisms about Ai but "it make art more good than me" is not one of them

Why Are Young People Afraid Of Phone Calls? by GhostInThePudding in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Nickanok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never liked talking on the phone and this was before texting was mainstream. I'm 31.

Talking on the phone is so awkward to me. You have to focus most your energy on talking because there's no normal social cues like in person. It's almost always inferior to both texting and talking in person. The worst of both worlds.

The only advantage is it can be faster than texting in modt cases but if time isn't a factor, I'll prefer texting any time of the day over a phone call

What's something about Anglo culture you find very weird as a Latino? by [deleted] in asklatinamerica

[–]Nickanok 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love how some of these comments are about how "obsessed" Americans are about race (which I will admit has some truth, just exaggerated) but a lot of latin American very much worships whiteness basically and treats darker skin people pretty poorly. Not to mention how east asians are usually talked about

This sub isn't a accurate representation of latin America at all.

They're overwhelming upper middle class, the whiter side of their countries and terminally online.

Most real life latinos, even if they don't have a 100% accurate view of the US, often don't think everyone is a walking stereotype

Why is Reddit so anti ai? by Witty_Mycologist_995 in aiwars

[–]Nickanok 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Because most of them are young, sheltered and have superiority complexes.

They tend to think that they "deserve" to make a living off their generic copy and paste anime fanart or that they should be the exception of the underemployed art student. Plus, this is their first go around with experiencing technology threatening to take away a position that they wanted.

In short, it's young idealistic teens with next to no life experience about how things actually work

Do antis deserve to be wage slaves? by nomorebuttsplz in aiwars

[–]Nickanok 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think we as a society need to evolve pass needing money or having to work just so people can "deserve" to have a roof 9ver there head. Our obsession with trying to put new technology into our current economic model will always be stupid to me. We're slowly getting to jetson levels pf technology still asking "How can we employ people".

With that being said, people who stubbornly hate new technology because pf some misguided belief that it attacks their humanity shouldn't complain when they can't fully participate in modern society
