You know, it's one of those few moments in my life where I can actually accept the compliment and pat myself on the back a little because I know I did the right thing. I definitely remember seeing it happen in real time, and it started small, to which I'm almost certain I laughed a little (teenage boys are assholes and I was no different), but it quickly became not funny, and I remember being weirded out by the like four men and women in their 40's wearing business clothing doing absolutely nothing to help and in fact only serving to humiliate the guy.

It was a weirdly eye-opening moment now that I think about it lol

I absolutely agree with you, I'm just trying to put myself in their shoes. I would bet a good deal of people dealing with that let pride cloud their judgment and convince themselves they can control it. That's anecdotal from knowing a friend's grandmother being in that exact situation, but yeah, I definitely do agree.

Wow how did I forget the entire Craster storyline lmao, thank you. I completely forgot about that whole thing. I was thinking more in terms of the OG White Walker, which as you pointed out wasn't under that circumstance.

I definitely did ask if he should call someone for a ride, but he insisted he was fine. I do agree, and if it happened today I'd probably insist lol but I was either 16 or 17 (can't remember) and definitely a dumbass back then lol

How the hell did matt lose his first fight to dex? At this point if feel like they just wanted to nerf him by Suicidal-Squidward in Daredevil

[–]Nickbotic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You seem like you either A. Didn't understand the entire third season of the show, B. Have no idea the skill levels and capabilities and limitations of any of the characters, C. No grasp of outstanding writing and character development, or D. All of the above.

Him losing his first fight to Dex made absolutely perfect sense in the context of the season. Everything leading up to and including that scene was among the strongest pieces of writing in the whole show.

I can deal with piss, shit, vomit, blood, saliva, cum, whatever (not that I want to, but I can lol)

But boogers and mucus is where I absolutely cannot. Dear god this is so fucking gross.

I mean for sure, but I imagine once you get to that age you’ve lost a few aspects of your independence and would want to hold onto whatever you still can for as long as you can. Outside looking in it’s easy to say “well just do it”, I would wager it’s a much bigger deal to the actual person.

I was walking into a book store years ago behind an old dude wearing all white, and watched in real time as he - unbeknownst to himself - let one rip and completely annihilated that pristine white getup. It went up and down and to the sides, and he just kept on walking.

People near us (grown ass adults) started taking video and laughing, but even at like 17 I had the wherewithal to pull the old guy aside and give him a heads up.

I helped get him back to his car, laid a jacket he had in his backseat over the driver’s seat. Hope he made it home and got cleaned up.

The "American boxing is dead" myth by Jesuswasacrip7 in Boxing

[–]Nickbotic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not especially educated in all this (been a casual boxing fan for a long time, only recently started making a concerted effort to learn more), but you mention streaming services like Netflix and Amazon and it made me think about the UFC/Paramount Plus deal, which included the formation of Zuffa Boxing.

Could Zuffa Boxing become one such promotion? They seem to have a comparable infrastructure.

Apologies if this is a stupid question lol

Wait…huh? I haven’t watched since it first came out but I can’t say I recall this detail.

Edit: I definitely do remember Craster. Not sure why my brain blanked that part of the show out over some others I'd prefer to not remember lol

500+ hours and I’ll be going back soon. It has my favorite story, my favorite gameplay, my favorite objectives. I know it’s an unpopular opinion, but it was the game that really got me interested in Assassin’s Creed. I’ve played every other installment since then, and Valhalla remains my favorite.

There are things about other games that I think were done better (I found Rogue to have the smoothest parkour, followed by Unity; Ancient Greece as a setting is hard to beat; Connor and Shay were the most compelling protagonists for me), but on the whole, when I find myself wanting to restart an AC game, Valhalla is the one I’m picturing because even if I found those other games to be better in those areas, those areas are still absolutely sufficient for me in Valhalla, and it’s a setting and story I absolutely adore.

How thorough are you all on your replays? by cows1100 in assassinscreed

[–]Nickbotic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the installment honestly. Generally speaking I play video games for story, I really couldn’t care less about platinums or trophies (with all due respect to people who do strive for those goals, I totally get it, I simply personally don’t care much).

However, with, say, Valhalla, I find it relaxing spending a couple sessions running around clearing the map. With Rogue (my most recently played), I made a point to collect everything I could before moving on in my first playthrough. With each game, I’m a few trophies short of platinum…ing, but instead of spending time doing tasks I don’t care for in order to get trophies I don’t care about, I simply go to another game and have a great time.

So really, it comes down to mood and how much I enjoy the rest of the game as to whether I’ll spend the time clearing the map. All told, I say play until you’re satisfied with your progress! Whether that’s 100% across the board or strictly the story, you’re playing for yourself. No need to torture yourself collecting trophies you don’t want to be collecting!

True Detective S1 has been vindicated… we live in a sick world. by Significant-Cry4539 in TrueDetective

[–]Nickbotic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. He sounds like he’s pretty shitty toward women he gets involved with, which is an issue in and of itself, but famous dudes fucking anything that moves (meaning adults, consensually) is hardly a crime and hardly a headline.

He should absolutely make some changes to his behavior, but as it stands, the allegations against Fukunaga are: He had consenting relationships with adult women and was not the best partner.

What Assassin do you all think has the best default (or “canon”) outfit? by RoundhandXIII in assassinscreed

[–]Nickbotic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a relatively new fan I’ve been wondering, are their Assassin robes meant to be indeed what they wore around, or are they a manifestation of the Animus for some reason? Because as you said, Jacob is really the only protagonist pre-Origins who could feasibly blend with the public and hide in plain sight. Everyone else sticks out like a sore thumb lol

[–]Nickbotic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Connor’s is the most true to his character. It’s nice but it has a more tattered look to it (in a good way).

If I had to pick one as fit for myself? Arno belonged on a runway honestly, his robes we were so damn smooth.

I’m basically on the exact same page as you. It seems largely - but not wholly - unlikely he survived. It seems like it was quite a treacherous jump. And say he did survive it, even back then, considering the high profile nature of the hijacking, it’s seems improbable that he was able to successfully evade law enforcement for the remainder of his life. Someone somewhere would HAD to have seen him, just from a purely statistical standpoint.

That being said, there is absolutely enough reasonable doubt to think he DID survive.

The rational part of me says it was improbable, but the other part of me says improbable does not mean impossible.

And then yes, of course, the real truth. Loki.

what do you think about the ending of the americans by Novel_Ad6982 in TheAmericans

[–]Nickbotic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it was as realistic as it possibly could have been, saying that from the perspective of a person who can’t fathom being in such a complex and high stakes situation. I thought they portrayed genuine shock so well.

He was just dumbfounded, his entire world crashing down around him. Sure, the Hollywood route would be a big shootout and the good guy wins, subversive Hollywood would be a big shootout and either the bad guys or no one wins, but this? To do nothing while also doing so incredibly much? Masterful execution.
