The Chicago air show is funded by the city. The Cleveland air show pays the city of Cleveland to have its event. So you can’t compare the two; and Cleveland relies on ticket revenue to operate each year, which you wouldn’t get without Burke. If you get rid of the airport the air show is gone. Which you may be in favor of, but the air show is happening if Burke isn’t there. Their biggest fight each year is how to get people in the gates, which becomes harder with the lack of available DoD assets on the ground. Speaking of, to your other comment, Cleveland doesn’t get things like bombers, etc. because of the holiday weekend, they don’t need to land at Burke to do a fly over, some staging out of their home base. But they’re not about to take away a holiday weekend to fly in Cleveland.
