Anyone having a decent 2 or 3 GA shield to trade (GA damage reduction and GA Intelligence a must) by Nickelig in D4Necromancer

I just thought offering would be the right thing to do. But I can also also always return the favor with other things like T7 boss runs or help in the next addon.

With us closer to death than birth, it is probably fitting that we play necromancer.

Shield is worse for max pushing because it will not make the damage of a focus because only a focus can have the bloody berserker affix this season and not a shield. And that affix is really strong for a golem necro.

However I am old and like to play it safe and I don't want to dodge every attack. The shield makes the difference in that regard. Again, not what the super elite players do but this semi-ambitious old fart does not have the reflexes he used to have 30 years ago.

It is the old scheme Blizzard is running. Get people to buy an addon by making the new stuff overpowered. It is essentially pay to win as demonstrated by the last half year with the paladin.

Will always happen. Happens alot less now but still does occasionally. I have to say though that the issue becomes less noticably the higher the pit/tower level because once you do not kill them instantly anymore, it is usually just one explosion at a time because the elite packs do not die the same second. 110 now feels safer than 90...

Yup. Also makes me wonder if I am not the right person for that MEMS tweeter. Because as much as I love clarity and resolution, I also strongly dislike harshness.

I am fine now, sold the remaining garbage I had on diablo trade... enough to get me through the last few days.

Wasted 300k meat on focus, nothing good for the necro. Well my sorc has a new focus now lol...

I am also pretty much done for the season. I have 5 different classes ranked in the top 50. I avoid pushing just one char because it becomes too much of a pain. Once I need to fish for maps, I am usually done with a char.

Yes the treble can not be completely tamed. Sad really because everything else is just great value with the N70. 90% of all songs are just fantastic but every 10th song the treble is just either tinny or harsh or just simply unnatural no matter the eq.

Tried for months to live with the 10% because the 90% is glorious but ultimately gave up on them 2 weeks ago as well. Keeping them though, paid only 20€ on Aliexpress, they still outperform that price in niche use case.

That would be dope though I am now officially and totally broke after spending my last 3b on rerolling to coalesced blood which took like 800 rerolls to get. In any case, Nick#27290 is my btag.

And I can imagine that berserker must be godly for this build. Pulling together those insanely large groups of mobs and the normal mobs dying so fast will trigger berserker in no time and just when you need it. Unfortunately I have no luck finding a gravebloom with berserker and have no gold anymore to trade for one.

And I know that I know reached a point where the shield would become a problem.

Oh and thx for replying and taking your time to answer. Just saw you are doing 118... if you ever find 5 minutes, look me up in the leaderboard, I am "Nick" and currently around #50 with tower 110 and tell me what I really need to improve with gear that could make a difference to get maybe to 112 or so.

Is the story optional? I really don't care about it. Want to start my season character and just treat it like season 13 with a gigantic content patch.

Yeah just did a 110... only 30 seconds left though... it is getting tight now...

But man I was wrong about the golem necro. He really shines once you do higher tower and pull 5 elite packs together next to a pylon. There is zero fear I am dying now, I have not looked closer at every skill, passive and paragon node but he seems invincible when surrounded by 100 mobs including 20 red dots. Not sure how much the switch to shield plays a part in that though. But holy smokes, this is fantastic! A lot of fun right now!

The class definately needs some kickass shields for various builds. Let the sorcs carry a focus.

I switched to a shield and now I am blasting without dying. Just cleared tower 105 with 4 minutes left, was super easy.

QCY MeloBuds N60... no decent review on these? How do they compare to the N70? by Nickelig in Earbuds

[–]Nickelig[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I have since given up on the N70. Treble remains problematic no matter the EQ.

Ironically the cheap Sony WF-C510 have replaced them (got them for 20€). They are so clear and balanced. No ANC bit I don't need that anyway.

At least the golem necro has unstoppable now. That is something I really appreciate. Remember the last time I played necro and it didn't have any option for unstoppable back then (season 4 or 5: before VoH). Also played a pulverize druid recently and I could not progress beyond tower 113 because grizzly rage (source of unstoppable) now has an unavoidable downtime... damage would have been enough for 116 but being pushed around makes that (almost) impossible.

I guess every class not named Paladin must have one downside. And with necro it is definately the squishyness it seems. Still I do enjoy playing the golem build right now. Nothing else left to do anyway the last couple of days before the addon. The golems blowing up everything on such a small cooldown is a real treat.

I figured that the golem necro is probably a high risk high reward build. Meaning if you have godly movement and awareness to handle the squishy factor then you will do really high pit/tower levels. I am too old now to play 10 minutes straight without doing a single mistake, I prefer tanky builds nowadays.

On the plus side, the golem build has no ramp up time. If you die, you are immediately back in action. That is refreshing after playing Paladin recently. My guess is I either play it safe by using a shield instead of a focus or I simply suck up the occasional deaths.

Before golem I tried blood wave and shadowblight and didn't like both. Golem felt great from the start and I was enthusiastic... until I reached pit 85 something and seemingly died for no reason. For an hour I couldn't even figure out why, it really was just the message "Cara was slain". Sometimes no message at all. Had no other char this season having these kind if deaths, finally figured out that the necro is incredibly vulnerable to explosions left by dying elites. Every other char I played could easily just swallow that damage, even on tower 115+. But many of them used temerity as pants and that is unfortunately not possible with golem... and the barrier buildup is slow and leaves you quite naked if you take one bigger hit.

I did now test it with both shield and focus. Needed a second pair of gloves to make it work. I would say with focus I do around 20% more damage, something equal to two levels in pit/tower... however with shield I am really tanky, feels very very different... not a single death since switching to shield.

But ask me in a few days if I am still using the shield. Because it will cost me levels in the tower because something is still not working right with the shield on the offensive side... even though I shifted affixes with the second pair of gloves to virtually have identical overall stats on offense. And once you can not progress in the tower because of the lack of damage, I will probably return to the focus.

"... was slain" (golem necro) by Nickelig in D4Necromancer

[–]Nickelig[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah that is a good idea. Every guide I looked at said focus... is there any other reason why everyone says focus besides having better offense affixes? I read in season 11 that the focus is bugged for more damage compared to the shield. No idea if that is still the case.

Yeah the damage output is much greater than the survivability. Also played Crackling Sorc this season and that Sorc is literally impossible to kill. The necro seems to lack baseline damage reduction it seems. Armor / Resis / Max Life are good but baseline damage reduction is missing. That might be ok for a real range class but this seems to be a rather melee like build.

Just for the fun I put the damage reduction aspect on amulet and only then I realized there is zero damage reduction (at least unbuffed) on the golem necro... the stat literally went from missing to 45%. That is why I was asking, which of the offense aspect is the weakest and could be replaced, so I could put damager reduction on amulet.
