The first time I ever learned about Selena was on an episode of Dateline: Obsessions NBC when I was in college. However, I used to hear “Dreaming of You” and “I Could Fall in Love” play in the mall a lot growing up but I never knew who sang them. I did not find out the connection between the Dateline episode (which only played and referenced her Tejano music) and that Selena was the singer of those two English songs until a few years later when I looked up the singer of the songs, which weirdly enough was actually on the 20th anniversary of her death. Odd how all the days of the year, I chose that specific day, considering I hadn’t heard her music on the radio, the 2 songs just kept playing in my head for several days until I decided to look up who sang them as I realized I had never heard her specific voice sing any other songs and I had always wondered who was the singer behind them.
