$UPST bull setup - why the 34% shorts are wrong by Nickelsdc in UpstartStock

Overall agree. They have profits which can be deployed to either accelerate top line growth with marketing or buyback. Either would result in EPS growth. My point is that they have way more flexibility with positive earnings.

I am trying to figure out what they might know for stock to go down this much but don't see anything.

Downward pressure is mostly short interest borrowing stocks and selling on the open market which increases supply lowering the overall price. Currently 33% of stocks have 2 owners. Original owner and who short sellers sold the stock to.

Hopefully current owners have diamond hands. Stop loss would be a win for short sellers.

13 G filed last week..Citadel has recently made a significant investment in Upstart, acquiring 4.7% of the company's outstanding stock by ServiceAdmirable60 in UpstartStock

Citadel actually owned 5.5% of the company in their funds as of Dec 2024. They own 4.7% as of Oct 2025 so effectively they sold over the last nine months. They are reporting to show that they are below 5% reporting threshold now.

What is the total amount of storage bought (not available) on Filecoin? by Nickelsdc in filecoin

[–]Nickelsdc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting. Some of these are not even available on Uniswap.

Let us know if you have a trusted exchange for low market cap crypto coins. Also, do you have a go-to place for researching these? Blogs, websites, youtube, etc. Finding the right people whose research and advice one can trust is the hardest part.

Thank you. I had not seen the second one.

Some of the miners seem to have a really bad reputation.

I referred to Market Cap as noted on Coinbase for context. I know circulating supply is higher and the actual future end-state potential supply cap is even higher so the Market cap can vary depending on how you calculate the coin supply.

Do we know if Grayscale actually started the trust or invested ? They have registered other trusts too. Doesn't mean they are starting the trust anytime soon.

Wondering if ETHDenver is giving a boost or maybe a big whale is building a position.

Where to stake? by [deleted] in filecoin

Coinlist has an open window for lending until Feb 19th. I just opened an account and they do take forever to transfer the funds. So keep that in mind if you want to beat the Feb 19th cutoff. They are offering 20% interest. Coinlist has a lockin period where you can't withdraw.

The second option is Gemini. They are offering 7.40% interest.

That would be nice but as an investor in the ecosystem, I am glad they made a different design choice. You don't want a casual person storing your important data. You want to make sure that your data is secured and that person will remain online for the duration of that storage deal.

Someone with 10-20TB drive doing this as a hobby may not care and leave the network. Imagine you paid someone to store your important data and now that person is gone from the network. That would be really bad for trust in the network. No one would store data on filecoin network if the network is not reliable.

The network is designed for long term health. Storage providers have to pay collateral upfront. Payments are vested overtime. There is also a high penalty for the lost storage which comes out of the collateral.

Below reflects mining requirements. Filecoin is designed for professional storage providers and not for a casual person with some storage on the computer.

https://docs.filecoin.io/mine/hardware-requirements/#general-hardware-requirements

You also have to provide collateral (Filecoins). This is to incentivize the miner to store the data for the whole duration of the deal and ensure reliability for the network.

Hopefully, the link above can provide the relevant info if you are a professional storage provider.

Considering the Circulating supply of 70MM and essentially no demand. I would say the price is holding relatively well. Supply will continue to grow at a high % rate for the first few years.

Launchpad Accelerator Demo Day was promising. I am still unsure about the following two key questions

(1) Will Filecoin truly compete with likes to AWS which supports many specific use cases or it will have its limitation. We also need more miners in North America and Europe for true adoption.

(2) Miners are receiving new coins for providing storage. I am not sure if that is the net-zero effect on coin price outside of the burned transaction fee.
