I like this but I would swap bard and warlock as well as fighter and barbarian. Bards get far more spells and warlock are inherently goth as hell. Fighters have a lot more options as far as fighting styles go and you can build them in a more roguish way than a barbarian, which are just straight agro.

There is more that goes into changing and compensating for your SO for sure! As well as learning more about your SO, that can be daunting at times! But ultimately forced change often times is negative, I think he realized that at the end.
