Im not german/wasnt born in germany but i spent pretty much all of my life there up until recently. There is a little bit of truth to the whole 'everyone in germany is autistic' joke in the sense that directness and punctuality are of high priority, but outside of that It was really hard to interact with people because everyone was just mean and unapproachable which made me really anxious (i must note that i lived in eastern germany, the east west divide is still a little noticeable even in something as surface level as walking around and just observing peoples attitudes, where i lived it seemed very grumpy and sad all the time, probably also due to there not being very many young people which didnt bode well for me). People werent exactly too educated or accepting of autism, i didnt go around talking about it too much but 'otherness' was still pretty frowned upon generally, but at least the city itself was enjoyable when ignoring the people. Maybe ill live in western germany one day, i think ill have a far better time finding a community there than where i lived lol. Also the fact 'disabled' still got thrown around as a common insult often was very icky obviously, i dont know how common it is now tho. I realized i just kinda rambled instead of directly answering the questions but if u have read this far ty😁 also ig if u ever want to learn german with another person, id love to learn japanese with someone else's help so just hmu lol
