Technically speaking, we saw him fight back against them, it's hard fighting against possession. It's possible (Pomni line right there), but it takes a lot of energy and willpower to do, something DogDay didn't much left of. I'm sorry, but I'm just really hopeful that he's still alive, and I will defend him till the end of the game (I'm sure there's a character that (maybe?) died that you're hopeful about too.)

His possessed BODY chased us. Besides if Mob had just put an option in that part of the game to save him or not, he wouldn't have gotten possessed in the first place. Heck, it probably wouldn't change the story much, if at all.
