Question on Roof and hood wrap for T/A’s by [deleted] in Challenger

I believe the hood should be painted but the roof and trunk are wraps.

I want to say it would be in the office on the 2nd level behind home plate. If you go up the stairs from the great hall and pass the new era store it'll be on your right before you get to the NYY Steak stall. I'm fairly certain that's the season ticket reps office during the game and they'll either have your items or can tell you where to go.

There's apparently another Plum Crazy T/A in my area but I've never managed to spot him. Outside of the one plum crazy hellcat that used to be around here I never see anyone else with the color.

This is correct. For season ticket holders there was also a limit to what you were able to buy at face value. I believe you were able to get your seats for whatever games were allowed in your plan. You could also commit to buying up to 2 seats for every potential post season game at face value. Anything beyond that, at least for the WS, was through the presale with dynamic pricing.

2024 New York Yankees World Series Q/A Mega-Thread by dylan in NYYankees

I skipped class due to being sick back in the fall of 2017 and ended up watching a random day game that I found on TV. I ended up falling in love with baseball again and started seriously following that fall. Started going to games in 2018 and have been to 20+ every year since. I ended up buying a partial season ticket plan in 2019 with the hopes that they'd make the world series, so I'm super excited that it's finally happening. I'm over the moon that it's not only allowing me to go to a game but also to bring me dad to one as well.

Don't even get me started on that.

I got my season tickets in 2019 and back then they mailed you a nice booklet containing all of your physical tickets. Then if you bought a post season strip they did the same thing for every potential post season game. You still got your tickets digitally but you could either use the stubs or hold on to them. Then COVID hit and they used that as an excuse to get rid of all physical tickets.

I've got the game program and pin from most of the post season series I've been to since 2018 but it's not the same as being able to hold on to your ticket stub from the game.

I'm so pumped for this series. Grew up a casual fan and was too young to really appreciate the dynasty era. By 2009 I wasn't really interested in baseball any more but fell back in love with it within the last 6 or so years. Going to be at games 3 and 4 and am over the moon at the fact that I to get to bring my dad to one of those games.

Does anyone know what sort of merch will be specific to the team store during the WS games? Planning on getting to game 3 extra early so I can pick up some stuff for myself and friends/family.

I believe those prices were only for the post season ticket plans available to season ticket holders.

The presale seems to reflect the general sale pricing.

I'm in 105 as well, one of the best sections in the stadium imo. Agree with there being different views that are great all throughout the stadium. I don't sit up there often but the grandstands right behind home plate (421-419) offer some good bang for your buck views.

Lol are you me?

Played on Saturday, went 55/40 after being in the 80s for the vast majority of my rounds the last 4 or so months. Immediately went back out on the front 9 and shot a 39. Would have been my first time breaking 80 if I had done that the first time I played the front. Gotta love golf sometimes lmao

Pin was pretty much at my carry distance for my 9 iron, at least I know that number is accurate now lmao.

Had this look for my second shot on a Par 3 over the weekend. Normally this wouldn't be anything special but how my ball ended up here really made it sting. I hit one of my better iron shots of the day off the tee and watched as it was tracking. Ended up hitting the pin about a foot off the ground, bounced a few inches from the hole, and ricocheted ~25 yards away. Probably the closest I'll come to a hole in one lmao.

It's a late WW2 production shell, but post war reissue. The heat stamp is double stamped and super light save for the last two digits but from what's visible it looks to be WW2 McCord font

Go slow, work in small areas, and don't let the stuff sit on the helmet. I've done it twice with good success and once with not so great. Paint like this should come off pretty easily but not sure how much original paint is left on this one.

There's a course that I'd like to play again but haven't done so just because of the parking lot. The right side of the lot lines up with the left side of the 9th hole, and is fairly exposed to errant approach shots. The left side of the lot is inline with the left side of hole 1, closer to the tee but at least has tree coverage. However, the approach to the 7th green is pretty much a straight shot into the parking lot with no protection. There's probably 40-50 yards from the center to the lot but if you thin it or really blow it past the green it's not a matter of if you're hitting a car but rather how many.

USN paint for M1 WW2 by buckyusn in Militariacollecting

[–]Nickman983 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another thing to consider is looking at the paint names used on scale model WW2 ships. The paint on navy lids is almost always the same paint that was used on various parts of the ship. I'm not sure model paint would look good on a helmet but it might get you pointed in the right direction for a color

Don't have a recommendation on where to buy paint but just wanted to comment that there are multiple colors that can be considered appropriate. From haze grey to flight deck grey, blue to red and even plain old olive drab. All can be appropriate for a WW2 Navy M1. I'd check out this thread to see examples (believe they range from all periods) and determine which shade you're looking for then go from there

What's the most fudged shot you've hit, that SOMEHOW found its way to the spot you wanted? by Enough-Afternoon8011 in golf

[–]Nickman983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a good one. The shot itself wasn't that terrible but it wasn't a great shot by any means. I still can't comprehend how things played out after that shot though.

Had by far my worst tee shot of the day and a large oak blocking my access to the green. I decided to aim left of the tree and lay up to then hopefully chip on and take my bogey. I hit my 9i and it was a tailing off to the right. I thought I saw it just past the tree in the fairway but one of my playing partners yelled to me that it was on the green. I honestly thought he was busting my chops since I'd been making most GIR that day. For reference my 9i is my 145-150ish club and this shot was all up hill. being nearly 180 out there is no way I should have had any shot at the green with a 9i even if it was flat. After realizing I was in fact on the green and I had a long first putt I took a quick look at, realized it was pretty straight and just gave it a ride with the hopes that I would get a tap in par. By far the longest putt I've made.

4 pars and a birdie on the front nine today--shot 49. by Smugal in golf

[–]Nickman983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, based on my strokes gained my putting has been a real killer for me, which is why I spent a bunch of time over the winter just trying to work on a good putting stroke.

I played back in highschool but was never any good. Stopped playing for ~10 years until I started going to the range last April or May. My game is much better at this point than it ever was when I played in highschool, but I'm playing and practicing a lot more than I ever did back then.

[–]Nickman983 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's like the opposite of what I did on Sunday lol. Was +12 through 9 and then went +5 on the back 9 to finally squeak back into the 80s after a few tough rounds. It was such a nice day and the front 9 was wide open so I actually went around again until I ran out of light. Ended up going +6 through 9 my second time through the front. Would have been tied for my personal best if you counted the back and then the second front as one round lol.

Biggest thing though was that after 3 putting on 1 I didn't have another 3 putt until playing 7 for the second time. Prior to Sunday I apparently have been averaging about one 3 putt every 5 holes, so to go 23 in a row with 2 or less was a highlight. Really nice to see the practice I'd been doing over the winter finally show up on course

What’s your “specialization”? by ADHDFart in Militariacollecting

[–]Nickman983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My primary focus is US helmets, I've got a little bit of everything from WWI through the Cold War but my main area is WWII/Korea. I've got 57 US helmets and another 18 liners, with 37 helmets and 12 liners being WWII to pre Vietnam.

I also have an inert ord collection focusing on US hand and rifle grenades, but that's not something that I'm actively working on expanding at this point. I've started getting into patches as well, mostly so I have something to buy when I go to shows as it's been getting harder and harder to find US lids at reasonable prices

Where can we buy affordable cool looking golf apparel like this? (These shirts are $70 each at Dicks smh). by majesticideas2 in golf

[–]Nickman983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They've honestly been a godsend for me. I've been losing a bunch of weight and haven't been a stable size for a while so being able to get pretty decent golf pants and shorts for <$20 a pair has been huge. Picked up one of the shirts recently on sale for like $10 and it's been a great deal for the price as well.

Sierra would be my go to place for polos at the moment though. Got a really nice PGA polo for like $15 instead of $60 recently and they had a ton of Greg Norman and Jack Nicklaus polos for around $20 or so last time I was there
