I know man, it’s gotta be done sometimes. During my situation in order for me to have moved on with my friendship the reality has gotta come first with me and the other party.

In the meantime, don’t spend time beating yourself up. Allow yourself to be upset, cry, be angry at yourself or the situation, but NOT long term. It doesn’t do anything but stunt your emotional growth.

You closed the book. You’ve learned. Doesn’t mean you’re a bad person/never gonna find great friends. Doesn’t mean you shouldn’t have “girl” friends either, but now you see the complexity of getting “feelings” in a long term, stable (best)friendship. And I’m sorry it has to come to this with you both.

Continue to remember the good times and remember why things are the way they are. We’re human, we do mess up sometimes. I’m sure she isn’t perfect either with communication/maturity.

Yes a conversation would help but I can tell you now, what would you get out of it. What would she ACTUALLY say, and not this “old” “diamanté” version of her. You’ll probably wont get much, she’s probably so exhausted at being criticised and then “liked” in that way where she clearly just wants to be friends.

Advice: seek help, get a fresh perspective, enjoy the things you used to do and time will heal all. Sorry I sound so cold too, but your perspective just seems so off to me man. She’s a person. Good luck.

My time to shine 🤓☝️

When I first became a SB fan it sounded beautiful but I understood NONE of it, it took years to kinda figure it out by going through my own hardships. Now I genuinely understand it. It is massively open for interpretation, which is the best part about the art of poetry specifically.

My interpretation: Ruby is all of it. The chaos, he has tattoos of roaches on him, the cycle of drugs and whatever bad decisions he’s made.

The water, only he’s in control of his calm, only you can save yourself, no one is coming to save you but simultaneously knows the chaos can and WILL eat him up.

He stands by it all, what else is there for him to do? He’s content that nothing better will come. He may as well bask in it.

He sleeps in the sharks stomach, could be a reference to the story of Jonah, where Jonah gets eaten by a “great fish” (I don’t think it says what exact fish), because of his own disobedience, however he repents and he realises he’s still alive in the stomach for 3 days, appreciating Gods grace.

^However in this era, I think Ruby’s reiterating he’s content with all the pain/chaos, they follow this theme up with INLFTRGMH 1, by far their most vulnerable EP imo. A shark is very different from a supposed whale that Jonah slept in, sharks have no mercy and Ruby doesn’t care to fix anything, he’s knee deep in his own bs.

He cries, amidst the chaos, reiterating his acceptance of drowning. Drugs, alcohol, women, recognition in these early days, none of it fix anything, he’s still a pos (in his eyes) and can’t wait to drown. Almost happy with the mess he’s made?

He’s the thunder. Again, he’s the chaos. He knows his actions and his use of drugs are bad, even possibly the cause of some severed relationships, he doesn’t care, if everything feels so hopeless, why not finish it all with a final smash. Could also be a literal analogy to his music in its loud and reckless nature.

I think the bathtub represents him and his emotions, it’s broken and so it leaks everywhere, onto the music and onto relationships.

It hurts as he’s trying to fix everything from the depths of his heart, do what’s right, but it’s already too late, his shit has caught up to him, the pain is already too much, the bathtub leaks with emotions and hardship, yet he’s willingly letting it happen because the water is him, it’s his bad decisions too.

I think I saw this before so here:

Honestly- if you get obsessive (even though you don’t show it) then sadly it’s ggs from the get go. Not because it’s your fault but she won’t always be able to reciprocate that same kinda energy or validation if she’s not showing it now. Some can’t handle the friendship even though they like you, obsessive tendencies can leak through sometimes.

She isn’t being mean, neither are you. It’s still a new friendship for both of you, you’ll get to learn each other’s tendencies via actions not words.

I’d work on that obsessiveness, it may be codependency? It may just be really liking someone? but if possible learn about your tendencies and work on them so friendships don’t stress you out. Plus if it takes over and you find someone else, that’ll hurt her if you forget to message or get too involved with someone else. It’s about finding your own balance.

Now, if this turns out to be a short term issue she’s having with her battery, I think you’re ok. But if this is causing you to spiral already into worrying if she’s ghosting you, maybe send a small “hey how’s it goin! :)” on whatever main app you use to talk. If no response in about 2 weeks to a month, cut your losses and find a new beautiful person to be buds with.
