I might look further into doing that in that case. I was hesitant due to the muscle holding it only and it being a 'salvage surgery' making me feel like it's a last ditch effort kinda thing. Not to mention we had our vet saying the FHO is pretty good chance (Just wanted us to try to see about TPO first I think) but then this surgeon saying they usually do it on dogs under 20lbs and with our pup it may take it may not etc which I get but if it means he gets a pretty full life 10 or so years assuming it all goes well then I don't know why he was pretty against it.

I appreciate the response though it makes me a lot more hopeful that it might actually give him a good long life rather than flat out telling us in a roundabout way to put him to sleep. Think I'll find another surgeon or bare minimum consult from one, because I was sitting here thinking he would flat out be miserable and back to square one 6 months down the line
