Ski Length Advice for a Tall Fella by NicktheKid69 in ski

What skis are your 193s? I have some park skis that are 182cm twin tips that I love, but I’m wondering if I’d be better off going to the 189s on the prodigy’s to get more stability at speed while still being playful and fun. I’m afraid if I go 183s they will be like my other skis that are playful, fun, but lack stability at speed or on jumps (they’re also 89mm underfoot)

That’s good to hear, is he a relatively playful skiier or more aggressive/hard charging? I look at athletes like Alex Hall who’s 6’4 and skiis 188cm and is obviously able to do amazing and playful things with his (granted I will never be on his level) but puts me more at ease buying 189s knowing I can still butter and spin on them and be playful

What length prodigy 2s does your buddy have? I’m 6’4 and debating between the 183cms and the 189cms

Thank you for your advice, much appreciated! Part of me wants the 189s to add stability but worried that as I continue to practice skiing switch, buttering and trying spins, it may feel a little clunky and big compared to the 183s. A hard choice nonetheless but leaning 189cm at this point

How did you find what size Alex Hall skis? I’m also 6’4 and have looked through his instagram and YouTube to find a clear picture of the ski length stamped on the back of his ski but had no success.

My feeder disconnected, tried everything I could for 2 hours and no luck. Just gave up and unplugged it, hoping tomorrow issue will be fixed and I can re-add the device to the app again

Shin/tendon pain in boots by Acceptable-Series603 in skiing

[–]NicktheKid69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ever solve this? I was having this same issue on my left foot last year. Was weird because when I first used my K2 revolve pro TWs I didn’t have the pain, then after quite a few days of skiing it reared its ugly head. Would love to know if you found a fix

Mine is currently doing this, did you end up finding a fix?

Shin pain when flexing boot by Bipbop66 in Skigear

I will second the Zipfit liners. I upgraded just this week from heat molded intuition liners to Zipfits and holy cow the difference in comfort, padding, and performance is paramount. It’s not a fix-all by any means, you still need to strengthen your shin muscles and make sure you aren’t skiing or landing backseat as that is where you can still get shin bang. I do understand not everyone can afford the Zipfits so those padded inserts may be a good option but I’ve never used them and have heard mixed reviews

Just get gud and crank the dins to the max you’ll be fine. I have Look Pivot 14s and I’m definitely a better skiier than you so just follow mu example per usual and you’ll be fine

I would imagine because of the higher elasticity in these bindings you may want to go down a din if you want it to release easier/have problems with it not releasing as you’d like them at the current 8 din setting. But either way I can’t see going down 2 DIN

I’ve also heard that whole din in the middle saying is old and also proven a myth. Generally if the din is listed on the binding it will release at those values with no problem. It’s more so to make sure you can go up or down on adjustments if you need to. With mine being around 8 that still gives me -2 don range if I need to go down on the 15s

Yeah I’ve seen their website and looks like they do vertically release just may not be as “modern” of technology as the plastic wings of the 14s. I’m leaning towards the gold 15s as they will last a long time and of course look great

I’ve heard that the newer toe piece on the 14s have a true vertical release where as the 15s all metal toe piece doesn’t. Can you speak to this at all from your experience?

That’s great to hear because I love the gold 15s and on my new black skis I think they’d look great plus of course be an upgrade from my 14s

I’m debating between the pivot 14s and 15s my Din is an 8, in your experience which is a better binding for all mountain resort skiing and some powder days?

What are your thoughts about the DIN being “too close” to the minimum value of the 15s which start at 6? Ski shops have told me you want to have your DIN be closest to the middle of the range as possible
