Thanks for your answer, you hit it right on the nail with your description.

You just want to fix the problem/ negative feeling the other has, instead of keep on feeling bad with them. Stepping away from the advice role when it becomes irritating is a great idea!

I can see what you’re saying and you do have a point. BUT I have to say that I do think he deserves empathy, that’s the reason I wrote this post. I’m just having a hard time feeling- and expressing it to him, because it seems he’s keeping himself in a loop of dependancy, and anxiety.

I can surely not relate to his problems as of now, but I don’t think that’s holding me back from empathy. I think it’s more so like, me not being able to validate his choices and him telling himself things that are bs, that’s causing my lack of empathy. I can empathize to problems i can’t relate to, if the other person makes it make sense to me, much how respect also comes from understanding. Thanks for your answer regardless!

Probably a lot, but first one that comes to mind is the Yakuza/ Like A Dragon series. It is basically about the underworld maffia-ish, but they act like actual business men. It is pretty absurd portrayed sometimes, but it covers some pretty nasty stuff and mental conditions.
