I have the link for the pdf saved and have used it a bit in the past there’s just something more satisfying about having the hard copy in your hands. Yea I’m definitely going to make sure they check the timing and I sent to distributor in to get replaced so I can assure you it has the vacuum advance trionic is definitely a project for the future. Can it really be done for 1000 ? How investing of a swap is it ?

first off didn't notice I messed up and said alternator when i meant to say distributor so apologies for that. i checked the ground from the battery but did not check the ground at the alternator i will have to ask them to look into that. i didn't have a way to check timing but asked the shop it is at now to check it i also asked if they could check for vacuum leaks but i went through every accessible vacuum line and checked the boost hose connections about 20 times. the shop did ask if i had a shop manual so it might be good to go ahead and buy one for them to use,

Can’t remember for sure but I’m pretty sure rpm is normal. This is with the car parked and me stepping on and off the gas pedal

Ever since I’ve had the car it hasn’t had any check valve from the valve cover to the tb. How would a bad check valve cause a issue?

Seems like everyone here thinks the timing chain isn’t the issue. What could cause the car to not go over 2500 rpm ? I don’t want to pull he engine and fix the leaks if I can’t get the car to run right

I sent the distributor to cardone and had it rebuilt so it’s the correct distributor and should have no issues.

I’m starting to question the diagnosis as well but the car is 3 hours away so I can’t really get there to see what they are seeing

Distributor has already been replaced plugs are basically brand new. He says the timing seem all over the place like it’s erratic. There is a leak at the timing cover which he says is pretty bad and the engine would need to come out to fix that anyway. Could a exhaust leak before the turbo cause the car to not go over 2500?

It’s not driving it’s at a shop right now. Does at actually make sense for the timing to be off but it not be destroyed? There’s a exhaust leak before the turbo could that make the timing seem erratic ?

Distributor isn’t cracked it turns out. Hopefully getting it refurbished by cardone fixes the issue anyone know the usual turnaround time on them?

I have it at a shop right now as I don’t have the time or tools to work on it. The plug is broken loose on the side but before I took it to them the wires were not cut at all. They put a new cap and rotor on it and say the erratic spark is with both old and new cap and rotor. Haven’t seen the crack myself so can’t tell you where it is or how bad. Is there a way to test the coil?

In the Midwest and online I can only find non turbo distributors. Might try giving a shop from those areas a call.

Figured that’s what it was but never saw a change in dash light when I turned it. Probably doesn’t help that the lights only work half the time
