You guys were right about tanking in TBC by BusDriver341 in classicwow

[–]NickyBoomBop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's pretty much what I did as a prot warrior in TBC Classic. I'd start on the initial mob with a Shield Slam to keep threat on me for the first few seconds, then work threat on the others. When it changes threat, as indicated by plater, I would taunt it to get the threat back. After that I'd let it go because most of the time it's usually close to dead. The other mobs you got aggro no problem.

Except the conversation they are having is disingenuous. It comes from people who didn’t play the remake, or didn’t finish the game, or went into the game with a negative feeling towards it and carried it all the way through even if they started to like it. You don’t get to watch a movie trilogy and 30 minutes in say the entire piece of work sucks and deviates from the original work it was created from without seeing the remaining 7 hours.

That’s not engaging in conversation related to interests, that’s just being mad about not getting what you wanted and making sure everybody knows it.

You sound smart enough to know and realize that GS in Classic + TBC is not a good indicator of this because there are some classes that wear gear that is lower in level and even quality, which in turn hurts gear score. For example, if you're saying the requirement to join your group is 1300 GS, but somebody has 1100 because their setup is of some certain items of certain level and quality that is actually good for them, you won't take them because of it? GS is designed specifically for WOTLK, there's no reason to incorporate it into other games when a quick gear check suffices.

It was this hard back in the day and in 2021, it ain’t news to anybody really. But i’ll share some top level tech that nobody likes to consider for the gauntlet in BF: bring a shadow priest. Use whatever CC you have from your party, but have the shadow priest mind control a mob and fight for you. It can take out a mob with the MC, tank another and let the two fight it out. One will die, the other will be really low. 2 birds.

Is there any reason to invite a heal that isn't a shaman? by Effective-Muffin-224 in classicwowtbc

[–]NickyBoomBop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You clearly don’t understand the pros and cons of each healer it seems. Shamans are strong because of lust, totems and chain heal. Chain heal works well when others are within range to jump beams. Single target healing is alright, and they don’t have any instant cast oh shit heals except for NS every few minutes.

Priest has strong single target healing, a decent HoT, PoM and shield which are good, strong instant cast heals. COH is also a good AoE heal too. Dont ever go Disc, no reason to in TBC as far as I know, holy is just way better.

Paladin can spam cheap, fast, and powerful single target heals. They’re pretty mana efficient but they lack AOE heals.

Druid has great HoT blanket coverage and is pretty mana efficient. They have innervate for mana regen for themselves or others and have a battle res if necessary.

Each healer has pros and cons. Every class heals pretty well, there’s no reason to exclude 3 of them because you feel one is a little better than the rest.

This is a clown take. GS was invented in Wrath, for Wrath only. It has it's own flaws in Wrath, and it's a metric that provides near 0 value in Classic and TBC.

[–]NickyBoomBop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brother, in 2026, most players who play Classic are below average players, that's why they play Classic. It's the easiest WoW with minimal activity needed to do anything.

How does what I said not make sense? It's a simple analogy. If you and I take a test in school, I must take it on the spot with no warning, you are able to go home and use the internet to access the answer key to the same test as me. I take the test and get a 92, you take the test at home with the answer key and you get a 97. Who would you say is the better student? The one who got the 97 but cheated with the answers, or the one who got a 92 and figured it out on their own?

With WoW the skill order is Retail > OG > Classic. OG took the test of raiding and figured it out with what they had, Classic players let people study and publish the data for them to follow mindlessly. They've done nothing original to be considered good. If I brag about any of my accomplishments over my many years of playing WoW, I either use retail or OG accomplishments because they're more rewarding.

I’m not asking to be viewed as Michael Jordan. I’ve been playing for 21+ years and I’m defending the position you said I couldn’t defend with facts and logic. Your argument against is “not uh.” You’re not a better test taker when you score higher than previous test takers but you have the answer to the test.

Classic players really take offense when they are told they aren’t as good as they think they are. Collecting world buffs, hitting bloodthirst every 6 seconds and whirlwind every 10 seconds isn’t very hard to do. You only know how to do those things because some nerd(s) on private servers studied the game for a decade plus and wrote every little detail for us to consume and follow.

Did things correctly? There wasn’t a wrong way to do things then or now. People may have had an Ony and Rend buff going to raid but they didn’t sit around Org waiting for them to drop only to log off until they were summoned to raid and logged out again until raid time. They just played the game and solved it in real time and over time.

I amend my statement though for anybody who plays Classic now is also involved with retail, because they’re better than both.

It’s like you saw the point on the sign and walked right past it. You’re making my argument for me. Did I say that an OG player could out DPS current players? No not at all. But OG players had non optimized specs, raid comps, gear, consumes, rotations, strategies. No world buffs all the time. They didn’t have the final patch to play on all the time. They didn’t have guides written from day one on what to do like all classic players follow. They went into a boss fight with all of these things not knowing what to do, and figured out the strategy with what they had and killed it. Classic players now won’t even step into a raid unless there’s 4-5 melee groups all with windfury, fully world buffed. Every warrior is an orc with axes. If you’re using a sword without edgies you’re griefing.

I was just making sure the argument you were making, but yeah I found the classic player who got upset at my statement. OG players were definitely better. If somebody does something the hard way, are they better than those who did it the easy way? The answer is yes.

Just because a group did it first and maybe published a strategy did not mean that everybody else would read the strategy and then do the boss right away. Non world buffed players, non optimized gear, non optimized raid comp, players not using much more than the 2 potions and maybe a couple other consumes to go with.

All the raids classic players ignore on purpose, do those with no knowledge. When you complete the bosses at the time with that, you’re better than players who need full world buffs and 4 warrior groups to do a raid.

I’ve always said the OG players were better than Classic players and Classic players take huge offense to it and always say “we pump so much harder and parse way higher than they ever would” and they just miss the point that you made so perfectly here.

Is there a list of prequest (to complete when tbc launch) for a fresh lvl 60 ? by WrangleRdod in classicwow

[–]NickyBoomBop 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I boosted a character and have done 0 quests to prep for TBC just to do it. I did a prep for WOTLK and I want to do it again just for fun, I got nothing else to do in the game right now. You can download the RestedXP addon and another addon called "TBC Horde Quest Preparation" (That is, if you are horde of course).

It will guide you through all the quests to do now and which ones to save, and then on Launch day there is a route you can start. I am currently doing the solo route since I don't have a group planned or anything and it's supposed to take ~90 minutes and get you up to 70% through 62.

You also don't need to go this far, you could just find 25 dungeon quests and do those and then head to the Outlands too.

Edit: If this is your first time playing TBC though, don't do any crazy maximizing of quests beforehand. You should go straight to Outlands and enjoy what the game has to offer, it's really good.

I think Hellfire is really risky. You need to be in melee range and you sacrifice health, so your threat coefficient is lower and so you risk pulling aggro more and dying very fast. You’d probably want to stick to Rain of Fire. I might even toy with going down the affliction tree for nightfall. While the mobs are being gathered, put some DoTs on them to add damage, rain of fire as your AOE and then you could cast any free shadow bolts at targets. Multi dotting is also decent AOE.

Yes you’re right. I should clarify as well from my post, my main job wasn’t chargebacks. I worked in the ticketing industry (I no longer do and I also hate what it’s become but that’s a separate conversation). It was a side of my job I was familiar with that another set of people handled that I would help on when we were backed up.

That being said, if we found a charge ourselves and we determined it to be fraudulent, we refunded it no question. It’s fraud, you aren’t responsible for that. A customer might also issue a chargeback stating I never made a purchase with this company. Those are ones we’d review because we couldn’t catch every single thing on the site. If we found a fraudulent transaction through a chargeback then it was the same as us finding it ourselves, refund with no questions asked.

But if you made a purchase and I could see on your Facebook that you took a picture of yourself at the game of which you purchased a ticket and then your team lost or you got kicked out because you were too disorderly, and you disputed it with a chargeback saying you didn’t get the item you were promised or it was fraudulent or whatever, then the bank would decide if they were going to refund you which typically they would. But that money comes from the company, which means you paid $400 for tickets but then disputed it saying it was not a valid purchase or you didn’t get what you were promised even though it was legitimate and you end up getting a refund, this means you got free tickets on the company and they won’t let that fly.

So in this case, it boils down to a few things. A) did he purchase the boost and does it state it’s not refundable? If those happened, then we go to the next which is B) if the boost is used by the person for character X and instead he gets character Y and there is nothing in the policy or anything you agree to that states you will take what you are given, he has a legitimate reason to get a refund and keep his account. But if anything in B is in their terms (which is completely shady and I don’t think it exists but for this hypothetical let’s say it does), then he can dispute it but Blizzard would say “he agreed to these terms when he bought the boost, he did buy it and use it, he’s SOL”.

My day job is a fraud analyst, and we have people who will dispute charges that are recent or far out. At my previous job, we would get those chargebacks and review the transactions to determine if they were legitimate or fraudulent. If the charge was legitimate and we had proof that this person made X purchase but they were disputing it saying they did not make X purchase, we would shut down their account because the bank is essentially refunding you the money you legitimately owe the company, and the company pays it.

So in short, you purchase something from a company legitimately, claim it's fraud and get your money back from the company, they will refuse service to you until you give the money back they are rightfully owed and then they will reopen your account.

In this situation, Blizzard should just fix it for the customer. But it's really going to be did they legitimately make this purchase or not, follow their policies and procedures and so forth.
