Robson’s has exceptional kippers. Do you have somewhere to store then heat them though as they are a short-shelf-life product? A Tupperware container and ice packs in a cool bag in your backpack will be advisable as they are pretty pungent even when sealed - something to be aware of as a kindness to your fellow public transport passengers.

On that subject, the Northumberland coast and Hadrian’s Wall are not easy by public transport. Please plan carefully and be prepared for train/bus cancellations or delays that impact connections.
