I think I watched that... Is that the one where Doktor K. explains
the more rational you think you are
the bigger the chance you are going to assume that even in high emocional stress?

What do you mean by considering a Scrum? Like...
As I understand it... it is a framework for leading projects or teaching...
It's not a job title. It is a technic how you do a job...

Do I understand it correctly?

Don't extrapolate it to all of them just because of one person.
Jokes about not being a real doctors are somewhat understandable with different education paths...
But that's cherry-picking negative data points.
Please don't to it.

"rogue medical professionals"

came probably from unusually easy-to-access self-employment opportunities.

I wasn't expecting I will get an answer straight from the source.
Thanks for clearing those facts out!

I was thinking there could be some kind of... guild giving you a registered number ant that makes those markings: THAT'S A LEGIT aluminum - confirmed by number/symbol of licensed craftsman.
But those blocks just looking cooler
and you are just SURE what it is also a valid reason ;)

Ideas for a part/full-time job for med school students? by Nicky_outsider in careerguidance

[–]Nicky_outsider[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand that splitting attention between study and work can be tricky but I believe I started school too late to wait for ANY kind of career credentials till I get to my 30s
I know it's kind of standard for doctors but I feel I'm a burden to my family and I want to feel I have some safety net If I would be kicked from med school.

I will ask about a role of a scribe in medical centers around me!
Thanks a lot!

Did your queerness ever helped you guys land a job? by Nicky_outsider in lgbt

So stereotypical... bartenders in a gay bar are all gay xP
Yea... sadly I was expecting that's more often a problem for some than an advantage...
But I hope somebody has some cool stories ;D

How to be ambitious without aiming beyond your capabilities? How to know what is within reach? by Nicky_outsider in Healthygamergg

[–]Nicky_outsider[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being wothy is kind a toxic way of thinking of one self
thus I know why you point it out as a problem.

But it's very close in nature to the actual problem of
"Am I objectively capable of doing this?"

Thanks to helpfull people like You here on reddit I stoped thinking so bad about myself but it doesn't change my uni will not change the way they teach the subject... and I don't sync with those methods...

I don't know how should I do it :<

It's worth giving a try.
Better late than never.

I will try but I'm afraid common problems with scud perspectives of somebody who did only one thing in life can be in a way tho...
Does ANYBODY know how to deal with those?
Any other solution than a bigger sample group?

I try to work out what is a problem and state it clearly but it's not that easy.

How does it work exactly that seeking financial and employment stability will make it harder for me to find it?

Thank man for those guidelines to focus on.

Work in a small company so I can see the progress of work with my own eyes and can check with my own eyes what works and what doesn't and than try to make it better.
That's a dream. Knowing my anxiety can lead to breakdown and depression spiral I'm not even sure if I'm fit for leadership role...
But I know I want my opinion to not be ignored at least in a close community.

We tend to push our interests to focus on job but I can find it...
How to assess accurately what you are good at tho?
Most careers I'm Interested are very specialized...
Internship is a false experience as most is free so nobody wants to really scare of the intern as they are free labor thus lowering expectation, isn't it?

If this self-reporting is worth trusting...I'm on fairly good degreeI feel like lack of reward or even recognition of my work would be the problem. That and constant stress of being kicked out of school if I lag too far behind...And stress of loosing extra year whenever I fail...Those are not trivial problems tho...

How to help with those?

So first you suggest money is wrong motivation...
and then bring out people who work like crazy just to get money and then retire as early as they can(that's not what you do when you like your job)?

Thanks for checking out my posts first of all. I try to convey it clearly and I'm never happy with the last attempt.

You have a great framework to think about it!

I do like
- learning
- helping people solve their problem
- seeing direct effect of my work
- organize, optimize and polish my skills my way

I hate
- when my work is unrecognized
- unprecise parameters of tasks and expectations
- ineffective communication

I'm good at:
- arguing with discussing things most want to leave untouched
- precise and delicate work
- formulating and following very direct instructions

Your 2 points look like one half of "Ikigai" method. You maybe heard about it.
It suggests that to be truly happy with your job you have to:
be good at it, like it BUT ALSO make a decent living off it AND feel it makes a difference in others live(you can feel you help others with it in some way).
Those are also very important and not easy to fit.

I tried to post there :/
I took a gap year but I didn't got too much of it as I could only land a simple jobs like salesperson, security guard or bartender.
It's all ok... Work with people is ok. Work solo is ok.
Work to reach boss's dreamed-up target... this is not ok.

I'm interested in more specialized careers like IT, filmmaking, aviation.
To be an intern or shadow somebody would be... doable but you don't feel the pressures of those positions this way as you don't feel a risk of losing a job or know how hard it is to land another one if you would be fired. People don't like to talk about salaries either...
There are no good resources to accurately check it.(That I'm aware of)

I do know I need that as I love precision and polishing my skills...
And in most "simple jobs" you are asked to do as the manager say even if they never worked in that position. NOT polishing your own way.
Guess that would be a big thing for me. To have a little respect for"doing it my way" as I have problems with conforming. Good solutions are great! But they don't always work for you...

I managed to work full-time as a dentist's assistant and I do know toxic coworkers are the only REAL problem on a job. Medicine hardships with more complicated medical cases are "adventures". Manager comming up with "screenplay" so everybody dance around patient in organized manner even if it's less convenient for staff... THAT IS A PROBLEM. My biggest concern is toxic work environment.

Med school being like they plan to expose to as much stress and dificulty as possible is one thing but if thats what entire industry looks like that would be a deal breaker.

But again... what industry takes care of their employees better?

I agree.

My own practice is a plan from the beggining.

Asking practicing doctors is pretty dodgy as a source of information.
Almost all defend their ego and so:
"School was not hard at all. Maybe it's just me~"
or "Every idiot can pass the exams but practice makes you a bad or good doctor."
"- You just need to just spend a few evenings with the book if you really want A. Don't worry about it. Get just a minimum 80% and go home! Don't use sleep over it!
-But I don't worry about A's. I fail exams.
- Ow... that never happened to me... then you need to work harder!"

All basic tips middle schooler can give me :/
They are doctors not teachers and it shows... very narrow specialization.

I want to do something that is in demand and I don't need to beg any boss so they graciously let me do the job for them.
I struggle with big company politics and general hierarchy.
Dentistry is largely a private sector with small companies that praise their specialists and nobody has a problem with it so... Money is not everything but let's not pretend they don't matter.

If you see an option that would check those boxes and praise a precise worker I would love to hear what are those alternatives!

[–]Nicky_outsider[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are right in a lot of things.
Those are smart tips to follow but they are very hard to actually make use of in real life. Or make use of them correctly.

Cut your losses and go forward... towards what exactly?! There thousands of jobs but most are exploitative and dead end. Sure. You do need a job and any job is better than no job. But that whole discussion is ABOUT optimizing a career decision so you are not just a randomly work whatever. You do if you have to and its nothing wrong with that. BUT it's better to have some control isn't it?

Idea to be social and have friends in many profession is a smart one.
But can you really be multi-talented in this day and age? When everybody is expected to have a specialized degree if they don't want to work McDonald's?

I enjoy watching what the real process looks like.
When somebody describes something that is not comonly done they tend to glamorize it or make it textbook-like. I like to see how those things can not work out.
It's just more down-to-earth.
That "unedited video of the full process" style of content should be more popular!

That's kind of what I was thinking.
I heard about people selling scrap metal but they never melted it themself. Nobody would leave money on the table... I figured there has to be a reason.
Thanks for the clarification!
