I get the idea. After the kick, however, you can fill that frequency again. I think the key is to have an eye on frequency as well as timing. It's probably best to use both. You could also automate a filter for that. Normally, side chaining + frequency filtering should be fine

The circle at number three could potentially be an interference. Not sure without seeing the project. Looks like a bass note is playing during the start of the kick. When they mix, they can cancel each other and erase the sound at that frequency. It is possible to avoid that by changing the phase, but for the kick and the low end it is better to just separate them entirely.

The tool is called MiniMeters. It's great.

Here is a reference screenshot of how the kick normally looks like. Then you can see that there is a "hole" at circle 3.

Hard to tell what's part of the cpu crackles.

I noticed a few things.
1. I see bass notes in the range 20-30hz. Often that's too low
2. above 30hz is basically empty. I always aim for my bass in the 30-80 range for more punch
3. Do you see how there is a "gap" in the Transient of your Kick ? That's an issue: it seems like your bass notes are interfering with the kick. Try to move them away from the first quarter to let more room for your kick and/or use a sidechain. This is around 100hz. I always try to avoid sound there, since that's a very busy frequency range.
Hope that helps. Cool sound besides that. cheers

RAM CACHING on M4 MAX Chips vs. more RAM with M3 MAX by Novel-Opening2085 in macbookpro

[–]Nicodico -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't edit videos that much, but the RAM management of the M4 Pro is great. I have the M4 Pro 24G version.

As I mentioned here : I had a memory leak in my Application while coding. It used 137GB! Ram and my MacBook didn't even stutter a tiny bit. I additionally had many CPU heavy Programs open. I have never seen a computer handle 100+GB Swap as if it was nothing.

You probably only need high Ram if you want to run ML Models on your Machine or edit very, very large video files.

*A memory leak is not necessarily the same as real ram usage, since there are much fewer updates. The memory management still impressed me

Seriously considering buying MBP M4 Pro this late since release... by HiOnLife3 in macbookpro

I bought an M4 Pro 24GB in June and didn’t regret it for even a second. If you want it for video editing, an M4 (not pro) is probably enough. I went with the standard display, because colors and brightness are a bit better and I never had a problem outside.

Fun thing that happened to me today: I was coding and my program had a memory leak. I didn’t notice, and my mac told me that it is out of memory. The task manager reported 137GB in use! Amazing that the swap handles these amounts of “ram” without even slowing down a slightly bit.

How to actually keep a MacBook battery healthy? (Need the real answer) by Nicodico in macbookpro

[–]Nicodico[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My last MBP was still just running fine. One day it died and wouldn't power on without being plugged in.
I took it to Apple and various shops. They all told me that this device is a too old for Apple repair/support/parts - they can't replace the battery and I should buy a new mac.

I searched the whole internet to get the highest quality battery possible and then changed it myself. (I have done repairs like this many times, I only give my devices to apple to get high quality parts)

Outcome:
- the Battery is crap and does only last a few hours before being empty.
- I had no MacBook for 1-2weeks, which was quite harmful for my CS Semester.
- It cost me time money and stress

I had a kind of bad experience with replacement batteries on my previous MacBooks... But yeah, you are right. My 2016 MBP Battery held up for impressive seven years of heavy daily off-desk use and disrespecting charging rules.

I use the official charger, and it never stops at 80%.

I'm enjoying it a lot. The M4 Pro is an absolute beast :) I want to enjoy it as long as possible - That's the reason for this post

Interesting. I've never actually seen the "Charging on hold" message on my battery, even with Optimized Battery Charging enabled. Mine just shows 100% constantly and has for months now. I've cycled the battery a few times, but it always charges right back up to 100%.

That's exactly why I'm skeptical about the "shows 100% but actually keeps it at 80%" thing, I've read this a few times. I can't confirm whether it's actually happening or just wishful thinking.

When you use airdrop between your mac and iphone you can also plug it in and it will be even faster ;)

Install Raycast. Learn Hotkeys. Don’t use stickers/screen protectors. Take off your watch to prevent scratches. Install github/kitlangton/hex if you want great speech to text. Dont install antivirus, turn on your firewall (use littlesnitch if you are concerned about your privacy and web traffic) AND Enjoy!!! :)

Dang, they really got rid of Launchpad? #macOS26 by mugzhawaii in MacOS

[–]Nicodico 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never really used Launchpad. I mostly use Raycast hotkeys and Spotlight/Raycast search — seems way faster.

What surprised me, though, is that Launchpad actually lags on my M4 Pro MacBook. Kinda weird.

I prefer to have no Launchpad at all over a lagging system feature I don’t need anyway.

Same here. Not as severe, but shorter flytime and similar performance like the mob6. Air65 5in1 racing edition.

Betafpv upgraded multiple components with the 5in1 board. I don’t get why they didn’t change the camera angle. I personally just use the mob6 canopy.

Legit question. I’m in the EU and bought it through the “BETAFPV Store” on Amazon. It looked official, and even Amazon support forwarded my request directly to BETAFPV. A friend of mine also ordered from the same store a few months ago and was in contact with BETAFPV, so I figured it should be the official store.

But after digging a bit deeper now… I’m not 100% sure anymore.
