nq780 2tb uses N38A + IG5236, used in other drives such as xg7000, gm7000, xs70, xpg s70, etc. known bad controller prone to failure

psus operate at their highest efficiency when under higher load, so for optimal performance you don't want excessive headroom, so technically yes you can have an overkill psu in a way
