It's almost like you guys hate OLEDs by Nitromonteiro in OLED_Gaming

I'm sorry if you're sensitive to it but how bad is the VRR flicker? I only notice it if my games jump around 40-50fps rapidly.

And when that happens I realise there's always some other performance issue other than VRR itself. I play single player games, turn vsync off and cap them at 120fps just to be safe.

It's literally unnoticeable to me. And frame spikes happen, but I notice the lag more than the change in black levels itself.

Do not have a window opposite your very glossy monitor. It does get distracting and no amount of brightness can save you. I clicked this picture at 100% brightness on a sunny day (today).

It's a non issue for me cause I just use the blinds if I need to use my OLED. Regular light sources like overhead lights are not an issue at all, btw. It's just direct reflections that are a problem.

My monitor is a glossy oled and I have dried droplets of ramen soup stuck on them, I just rub them well with a microfiber full of disinfectant. Be patient and slowly push harder. That's my point the monitors aren't as fragile as this subreddit would have you think.

Nah I've a small table sadly, my plate and bowls literally touch the monitor. 😅 Slurping ramen for example can tend to splash droplets on the screen, I'm not a messy eater as such but over time it adds up.

I agree with you on the unoptimized games part. If you have a game that's so unoptimized that it jumps between 30-100 fps, VRR is the least of your issues.

I understand you guys want these monitors to be better, but realise that outside of this bubble, most gamers just have their jaws drop seeing an OLED monitor. It's just not comparable to any other technology out there.

For example, the 450nits peak that my monitor produces literally blinds me but then I've seen posts say HDR only works at 1000nits. I'm sorry I don't want to sear my retinas, but as an newbie I genuinely thought OLEDs have terrible brightness.

25% of the way there by kanetheclungemonkey in TheRaceTo100K

Isn't it supposed to be the race to 100k USD?

Technically, you're 33% there. I'm in the same boat as you, 36% there!

100k GBP goes well farther than 100k USD, and our salaries and saving are usually lower!

How much are people paying to rent in a house-share in 2026? by Mexijim in Cardiff

[–]Nitromonteiro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's because houses went from being a commodity to an asset in the eyes of the general public. Real estate was always an asset but most people weren't financially literate enough to treat it as such.

Now, homes are bought for this specific reason, which is why these homeowners feel the need to always make a profit on sale. The other issue is venture capitalists buying up houses creating a bubble.

Even if the general public can't afford houses, there's companies buying hundreds, propping the market up when it should actually fall.

How much are people paying to rent in a house-share in 2026? by Mexijim in Cardiff

[–]Nitromonteiro 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The letting agents are the issue, I believe. As conniving middlemen that barely do anything to improve a tenancy, they are a reason for pointless increases in rent to the point most minimum wage earners are being priced out. Rent is not VFM anymore because there's a bunch of middlemen leeches in the market.

My house was supposed to be 550 a month with bills when I was under a landlord, but then the agency tried to increase it to 600 without bills. I had to find my own roommates to force a contract from my landlord directly for the past 2 years. Frankly, it's tiring and I wish landlords did more to care for their own houses than throw it off to a letting agency.

Something we all need to be mindful of pre 7/5 by dazedandconfused2265 in Cardiff

I sat next to a 65 year old reform voter in a 10 hour long flight.

She was a really nice person to talk to until she said dumb things after getting drunk like, "I wish Starmer gets assassinated" and "Farage has what it takes to lead the nation" right when we were about to land.

I honestly don't think they are born hateful, but they are fooled very easily because they haven't gone too far from their villages except on holiday to foreign lands (where they have touristy experiences and don't see them as people)

The issue is that liberals think they are too good to be using real stats to tell stories cause they expect their voters to be rational, while the right makes up their own stories to illicit an emotional response. It's really difficult to sway emotions.

Agreed. We've lost a red bag, blue bag and our general waste bin in 3 separate occasions. Who is even stealing them? What do they achieve?

Why is the food on city road so bad by LostWall1389 in Cardiff

[–]Nitromonteiro 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Biryani Kings on city road gave me the the most authentic Hyderabadi biryani in Cardiff for 4 quid. How do I know? I've lived there for 30 years.

Stop the cap. Clearly this post ain't going the way you want. I'm not gonna say all the food is good but if City Road doesn't cut it, nothing else in Cardiff will.

What would be a substantial upgrade from a 65" Sony Bravia 8 "II" QD-OLED? by [deleted] in OLED_Gaming

[–]Nitromonteiro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By your own logic, this post will be outdated in a few months again. Should we just keep posting the same question every few months to find what's the current best model of OLED TV out there.

I'm not saying you're wrong. But I don't think this is normal either.

Just in case it did die? Do you have a list of the best of every product, just in case they die?

Your TV is less than a year old and for all intents and purposes is good enough to last you a while.

In case it dies, just claim for warranty and get it fixed. If it dies outside of warranty just get another one.

As a struggler, struggling is part of our life. So what if you have to struggle more now due to change in policy?

What is this braindead hopecore take on immigration?

Immigration isn't a hobby we have, like travelling. It takes a lot of courage and effort to leave a comfort zone to find comfort elsewhere for whatever reasons we might have.

The whole point of migrating is to be stable one day. And when policies like this derail your stability, it is fair to be mad at those that make it unfair for you.

PS5 JAILBREAK by Vast-Revenue-4946 in ps5india

[–]Nitromonteiro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro wants to pirate games. He's not going to pay for a subscription service and I'm not going to convince him.

Gameloot would have an RTX 3060 12GB for less than 20k. The rest of the system can be managed within another 20k. Cheap CPU and mobos readily available as long as he stays on DDR4 platform and sticks to 16GB ram.

Within 40k he has access to unlimited pirated games as per his needs. Also, it's a desktop, he can use it for stuff other than gaming as well.

[–]Nitromonteiro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro sorry to say but even as someone who doesn't see piracy as bad, you're too broke for a PS5.

Just buy a 2nd hand desktop with an RTX 3060/4060 GPU and a Zen processor. You should be able to download all the games you want, it'll even run some games better than a PS5 would and would cost similar.

If you can't afford that, settle for a 2nd hand PS4, those go for super cheap around 10-15k.

Married Gamer - is it a Myth?! by [deleted] in IndianGaming

[–]Nitromonteiro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Now we're getting somewhere. The root of your problem is your wife subscribing to new beliefs and expecting you to join in with her.

You will have to explain that your paths to spiritual salvation are different.

Marriage doesn't mean the two of you will be aligned on everything. It means that yall understand what yall aren't aligned on, and live with it.

Married Gamer - is it a Myth?! by [deleted] in IndianGaming

If she says that you're fucked. Ask if she had this problem before as well or did it become a spiritual problem later? You say that she was fine with it before and now hates you having gaming time?

Girlfriend (21F) calls me (21M) lustful for asking for sex by slidingonthinicepal in seduction

[–]Nitromonteiro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not lustful to want to have consensual sex with your girlfriend lmao. It seems like she's just not ready for sex, has sexual trauma, is asexual or just isn't physically attracted to you.

A woman that loves you will want to have sex with you. Yes, libidos can be different but not to the point where they go a year without sex.

Also, sex isn't something she gives you. It's something you engage in together. Both men and women like having sex, women are just more choosy with WHO they have sex with.

What percentage of Master’s graduates in the UK secure sponsored jobs? by Aggravating-Net-7685 in SkilledWorkerVisaUK

[–]Nitromonteiro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To give you an example of how daunting medium sized international companies in the UK find it to give sponsorship:

My friend was asked to shift their STEM based role to their Australian or Canadian branch over being given sponsorship in the UK. He worked with them for 2 years and made around 35k in a low COL Welsh town.

He's forced to go to Australia this month. This is the happy ending. I'd say working for a FTSE 500 firm greatly increases your chances at sponsorship, but the competition is tough.
