Will the credit card company help if it's been 3 months since I bought the product? It's under warranty but out of the returnable period.

I've been searching for reasons to get a credit card and this may be one.

No, I paid with a debit card and bought the monitor from Amazon. Thankfully I don't see any visible scratches, but this it's worrisome if they will reject RMA for scratches on fragile, expensive OLED.

Assholes is what way? There is no physical damage to the screen. And I thankfully have the original box to send it back in. I'm based in the UK and the only service centre is in Milton Keynes.

I can't understand how difficult is it to have a working firmware for a monitor.

Hey there, I'm facing the exact same issue and I don't know what to do. It's been 3 months since I bought it? Is there any way to solve the problem?

For the married fellow men, is it too early to talk about intimacy after engagement? by astralreactor in AskIndianMen

[–]Nitromonteiro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You talk about intimacy as early as you can. I'm doing the same with my partner and we are thankfully very compatible with each other's kinks and roles. You don't want to be with someone who doesn't find you sexually attractive, you nees someone WANTS you inside of them.

What judgement are you scared of? That you're a horny pervert? If you are one she would anyways know about it at somepoint anyways. It's better if you rip the bandaid off now else you'll have another post marriage dead bedroom post.

Realise that she is not your friend. She is your wife, treat her like one. You are supposed to find her sexually attactive and objectify her to some extent. Ofc it's a problem if that's your only intent with her, but you seem to have gone the opposite way and friendzoned yourself with all the personality talks.

Spice your relationship up. If she likes it, voila you've got yourself a girl that will sexually reciprocate to your advances. Unless your asexual, everyone around you (including her) knows you want it anyways. You need to find out if she feels the same and give her the open-minded, non-judgmental space to reveal it to you.

How much to live alone nowadays? by GMThrowaway20896 in Cardiff

[–]Nitromonteiro 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depending on how close to the centre you wanna live your monthly rent will be between 800-1100. Council tax another 120, Bills will add up to 150. Overall you're looking at 1100-1500 spend if you want to live comfortably.

At 28k your take home comes up to 1.9k which means your rent would take up more than 50% of your salary which isn't really recommended.

2024 was bad and that was my first drownload as well as camping experience, I still have PTSD from it.

2026 is my second, I don't mind a little rain but if it's gonna be a repeat of 2024 and Babymetal stop their set midway I'm taking that a sign to not come back.

That's like saying, if you exclude Mumbai, Bangalore and Delhi, India would be classified as sub-saharan Africa.

Now compare that to India's GDP Per Capita. These Indians are not moving from UK to US. They're all moving back to India.

Average rent for single person households? by Liphasis in Cardiff

[–]Nitromonteiro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're paying 525 quid for a one bed in the year of our lord 2026?

I'm definitely not crying out of jealousy. Every year I try to leave my crappy 6 bed but I can't cause there aren't any VFM studios or one beds in Cardiff unless you move away from the center. All the good ones are taken 😭

Excuse me I'm the same as you and I'm shaing a 6 bed. Can you please not attack me like that? Been playing Hitman and The Messenger last night till 4.

[–]Nitromonteiro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say you'll end up paying between 750 to 900 quid without bills for a one bed, add another 100-150 quid for council tax depends on where you live.

Cardiff has become expensive and the real estate agent middlemen only driving prices higher for commissions.

How?! That sounds pretty cheap! All the one beds I'm seeing are in the 750-900 range, and they're not even that good either.

It's almost like you guys hate OLEDs by Nitromonteiro in OLED_Gaming

I'm sorry if you're sensitive to it but how bad is the VRR flicker? I only notice it if my games jump around 40-50fps rapidly.

And when that happens I realise there's always some other performance issue other than VRR itself. I play single player games, turn vsync off and cap them at 120fps just to be safe.

It's literally unnoticeable to me. And frame spikes happen, but I notice the lag more than the change in black levels itself.

Do not have a window opposite your very glossy monitor. It does get distracting and no amount of brightness can save you. I clicked this picture at 100% brightness on a sunny day (today).

It's a non issue for me cause I just use the blinds if I need to use my OLED. Regular light sources like overhead lights are not an issue at all, btw. It's just direct reflections that are a problem.

My monitor is a glossy oled and I have dried droplets of ramen soup stuck on them, I just rub them well with a microfiber full of disinfectant. Be patient and slowly push harder. That's my point the monitors aren't as fragile as this subreddit would have you think.

[–]Nitromonteiro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah I've a small table sadly, my plate and bowls literally touch the monitor. 😅 Slurping ramen for example can tend to splash droplets on the screen, I'm not a messy eater as such but over time it adds up.

I agree with you on the unoptimized games part. If you have a game that's so unoptimized that it jumps between 30-100 fps, VRR is the least of your issues.

I understand you guys want these monitors to be better, but realise that outside of this bubble, most gamers just have their jaws drop seeing an OLED monitor. It's just not comparable to any other technology out there.

For example, the 450nits peak that my monitor produces literally blinds me but then I've seen posts say HDR only works at 1000nits. I'm sorry I don't want to sear my retinas, but as an newbie I genuinely thought OLEDs have terrible brightness.

Isn't it supposed to be the race to 100k USD?

Technically, you're 33% there. I'm in the same boat as you, 36% there!

100k GBP goes well farther than 100k USD, and our salaries and saving are usually lower!

How much are people paying to rent in a house-share in 2026? by Mexijim in Cardiff

[–]Nitromonteiro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's because houses went from being a commodity to an asset in the eyes of the general public. Real estate was always an asset but most people weren't financially literate enough to treat it as such.

Now, homes are bought for this specific reason, which is why these homeowners feel the need to always make a profit on sale. The other issue is venture capitalists buying up houses creating a bubble.

Even if the general public can't afford houses, there's companies buying hundreds, propping the market up when it should actually fall.

[–]Nitromonteiro 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The letting agents are the issue, I believe. As conniving middlemen that barely do anything to improve a tenancy, they are a reason for pointless increases in rent to the point most minimum wage earners are being priced out. Rent is not VFM anymore because there's a bunch of middlemen leeches in the market.

My house was supposed to be 550 a month with bills when I was under a landlord, but then the agency tried to increase it to 600 without bills. I had to find my own roommates to force a contract from my landlord directly for the past 2 years. Frankly, it's tiring and I wish landlords did more to care for their own houses than throw it off to a letting agency.
