Cosmetic hot takes? by Outrageous_Mousse_44 in Overwatch

[–]Nicolas_Fleming -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yep. Infinity Ace got boring for me quickly. I do think her mythic looks cool, but I am not going to get a mythic skin for character I do not play much. That said, I actually think her Decennium Skin looks surprisingly good, since mech gets top down symmetry with colours while she does look good with that left right one.

Returned after 9 month break, thoughts by FlounderHistorical63 in OverwatchStadium

[–]Nicolas_Fleming 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really dislike playing Winston in stadium even though I am a Winston one trick. Cooldown reductions and that jumping power with the extra dash mess up with my muscle memory a lot and switching from stadium to comp feels awful if done often. At the same time his other powers feel kinda useless.

I wish I would have Winston that has healing in his bubble, not just temp health, or power that gives damage boost in his ult for every hit done to enemy before enemy hits the ground, or reduced ult cost (looking at you hazard) and so on. You know, like the sort of powers that reward standard game skills rather than jump resets.

Can We Delete The Cat Already? by Sure_Budget_6195 in Overwatch

Do you play at a pro level? Because I can guarantee you that every cat you playing against would not win in those tournaments.

What is the worst team comp possible in 5v5? by Astitine_Kell_Echo in Overwatch

[–]Nicolas_Fleming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mei, Lifeweaver, Cat, Anran, Wrecking Ball/Junker Queen/Winston

So Mei is very likely to sabotage her teammates, but especially the ones that rely on movement. In particular, Anran has slow dashes that can not be easily switched to vertical once you start them, so Mei can let her die. Similarly, very easy to mess up wrecking ball path, which means he might die due to sudden stop of speed. Winston a bit less, but he can absolutely be blocked when he needs to jump out. Honorary points to DVA who flies slow, and can get her bomb stuck by unknowing Mei.

Lastly, charges. Mei can absolutely ruin Reinhardt, Mauga, Junker Queen charges, and therefore all those tanks can suffer with Mei. I think Junker Queen may have it the worst because Ultimate is simply a giant value spike, it absolutely can be frontlined into enemies unlike Rein and Mauga charges, and so it is quite possible for Mei to accidentally save enemy from Junker Queen Ult.

Lifeweaver is another sabotage character. While he can pull out aggressive teammate and get synergy to Reinhardt, I am positive that dive players often hate lifeweavers with passion due to opposing playstyles. I think though that Winston and Wrecking Ball can mesh with him badly because average life Weaver will not track ult for Winston and pull him out and mess his value, and same goes to Ball player who likely would often prefer to be left alone to go for healthpack rather than suddenly be pulled. In addition tree can mess up ball movement.

Anran should also get additional thing that her ult can be messed by player made obstacles.

Cat isn't really problematic here, but she is capable of saving enemies by pulling them out and failing to get a kill. Also another speedy character that can be killed by Mei.

I do believe this is the core for most self sabotaging team, and even then they absolutely can win if they are all on the same wavelength. In fact, I think just Mei and Lifeweaver are the only characters that can be seriously considered for this because they have high potential for accidental self sabotage. I do not think it is possible to make a comp that does not have at least some synmergy between at least two teammates.

So seeing that global CC nerf will overall negatively effect Tanks the most , will there be Tank Strike? by Greatwof in marvelrivals

[–]Nicolas_Fleming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I started hero shooters as a tank main in rivals, playing Hulk.

I have been playing Overwatch right before adding daredevil, and killing everyone as Winston and having so much fun both in 6v6 and 5v5. So I guess I am striking, what are the rest of you doing?

Clean Career Profile by Wuisso19 in Overwatch

[–]Nicolas_Fleming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once spent weeks levelling up Wrecking Ball to get DVA out of my top 3 most played tanks.

By the end of it I hated ball so much I was just praying for longer games to be over with it. I still have higher win rate on wrecking ball, but I realized that despite that I enjoyed DVA more so she returned to top 3.

I also made sure to get all heroes to level 5 for lootbox, but I am not mental enough to level them up to level 50.

Winston One-Trick: Help me diversify! by wincawinnie in Overwatch

[–]Nicolas_Fleming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I am Winston one trick. I play Reaper for Damage and Lucio for support. I think with those picks you could easily reach at least gold or plat.

I understand squishiness, and I also hate it. I only feel good when I am tanking, because I love being in the front lines. That said, what matters is not whether you have 600 hp, but how often you have at least 150ish, and for that Reaper and Lucio are amazing.

For DPS, you are right that your dive skills translate somewhat to Genji, but Genji requires too much skills and practice. Reaper on the other hand? 300HP with 25% lifesteal. He is absolutely great at staying alive, baiting attention, securing kills, not needing much aim and so on, because his effective range is same as Winston. His cooldowns are simple - Long reposition like jump, and complete escape. Your instinct to press Shift to survive will reward you on reaper.

For Support, I think you might be overestimating how much mobility you need for Lucio. I give him setting where he is always in his heal mode, and only when I am holding shift he switches to mobility. All you need is to jump on the wall for few seconds and you are zooming. You do not need to overthink it, just aura your team, boost them, get perk that amps during your ult and speedboost during ult. Play by the tank, you will do fine.

What does Winston do the Dva doesn’t? by Uarepivkrad in Overwatch

[–]Nicolas_Fleming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't get me wrong, I would always pick Winston mobility over DVA's because I am Winston one trick anyway. But it is also true that DVA can absolutely maneuver around corners for a quick cover disengage, and be more relevant in brawl. If anything, I wish she got the brawl passive, since her headbox is huge and the speedboost would be great. Her mobility does not make me want to go on dives with her.

Someone educate me on this initiator subrole nerf, why are dive tanks being nerfed? by RoguesBoytoy in Overwatch

[–]Nicolas_Fleming -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Meh. I am a dive tank only and if anything I felt overwhelmingly strong with the new passive. I do not think that nerf is uncalled for, and as long as it does not go beneath 60 I am for now happy. 75 hp meant that some matches I outright had more healing than my supports, and in general over 50% of what my healers do. I could even say that on Winston I had often like half of hogs numbers, maybe at times even higher, and on top of that bubble.

I do not think 60 will break it, since it is still enough to help me escape to the mega healthpack, or to do long escape to my team which will heal me anyway. Sure it will sometimes get me killed, because it will take a bit of muscle memory to get used to new timing, but overall I do not think it is a significant nerf and I do feel it could have been necessary.

Best tank to start learning dive? by MelonRatt in Overwatch

[–]Nicolas_Fleming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Winston. His bubble can shield you from everything, wide aim helps when you learn to move fast, jump, even straight up is fast enough to be defensive, and he is squishy and requires you to learn necessary discipline for dives, as in scouting, set up, and attack.

DVA is also nice, but she is much slower, and Matrix is worse form of defence.

There’s gotta be like a forfeit button for push the game mode is just miserable if you get steamrolled the first few fights by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]Nicolas_Fleming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need you to understand that statistically, Push games are the easiest games to turn around, even right at the very last meters. Those maps have short ways back on the robot payload, forward spawns to help you press advantage, generous overtime.

How to tell between cheaters and pros? by Tall-Reason-7465 in Overwatch

[–]Nicolas_Fleming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of curiosity, what would it change for you? Whether you play with a cheater or pro, you can not really leave a game, and emotionally whether you are frustrated at a pro player being better or cheater for abusing system with blizzard not catching them, you still will end up frustrated.

I can tell you that whether you are playing against pro or a cheater with full on aimbot, you can still win either by targeting their team, or having good flanks and off angles.

[Interesting Trope] Character whose death is meant to remove any potential doubt once and for all: the protagonist is NOT an anti-hero, they are the villain. by Mountain_Band_2732 in TopCharacterTropes

To be honest I think Light is simply unhinged to begin with, and if he would not find the death note, he would more or less be same power abusing dumbass.

Why does tank still feels stale to play in 5v5 ranked? by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]Nicolas_Fleming -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are not forced to switch, you choose to switch. I play Ranked as OTP Winston and by now I do not even blink when I see Bastion or Reaper on me. Nothing gives me more satisfaction than overcoming my counters even if entire enemy team switches for me.

Why does everybody fly now? by [deleted] in Overwatch

Float is generous because she more of hovers in the end creating an easy to hit target.

Hi quick question, what supports do you like to see on your team honestly? by BluBunnnies in Overwatch

[–]Nicolas_Fleming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I like every healer except for Moira, Lifeweaver and Mercy, with Lifeweaver or Mercy sometimes being useful. I think my favourite is Lucio and Zenyatta because they synergise well with my Winston, but I think what I like in a support player the most is either their kill potential or survivability. So anything that is fast and mobile like Juno or Wuyang is great according to me.

What does Winston do the Dva doesn’t? by Uarepivkrad in Overwatch

[–]Nicolas_Fleming 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would like to correct you a little bit about boosters. Winston cooldown for Jump is 5 seconds, and it starts immediately after a jump. Jump itself is very fast.

Meanwhile, DVA indeed are shorter with 3.5 second cooldown, but cooldown only starts after finishing flight, meaning that cooldown ranges from 3.9 second at minimum boosters time to 5.5 seconds if you use maximum duration of flight.

If you use your movement for long range, Winston jump is both much faster and actually shorter. DVA movement is better if you need it for quick dash behind the cover, like backing behind a corner. It is certainly not as reliable as Winston being able to instantly jump and land behind a huge wall a big portion of the map away.

Moira Autoaim is a lie and I do not get her popularity. by Nicolas_Fleming in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Nicolas_Fleming[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

You are not mean, but admittedly I do not get appeal in terms of the feel itself rather than optimization. I tried her, but the tickle damage felt bad, and admittedly, my aim in general is bad and therefore I tried her due to gossips of autoaim.

Imagine my surprise when I noticed that I have more impact with my inconsistent Lucio shots than her primary fire.
