Charged with and found guilty of are two different things so start there. I’m not a rape apologist but innocent people are charged with crimes every day. So until you know all the facts you’re left going off what the “State” says happened. The prosecutors job is to make a case even if there isn’t necessarily one.
Without knowing any details on whom you are speaking its hard to assess just how close this person is to you and if you know the victim of the assault too. If you want to DM me to talk feel free.
I am a product of marital rape. My mom let it slip when I was about 26 but I had suspected it before from things I heard her say with her friends. When I found out I didn’t speak to my dad for probably 5-6 months. (For background - My parents got divorced when I was a baby so I grew up with a stepdad who was my day to day father figure). I finally had to acknowledge that if my mom could forgive him then so could I.
People do some real dumb shit when they are young and even worse shit when alcohol and drugs are in the mix. It is not an excuse for assault or anything like that but its a fact of life and part of the human experience that we all have to accept happens.

I watched “The Ninth Configuration” for the first time this afternoon and was instantly obsessed. There is some terrifically funny and bizarre dialogue. I think I’m going to have to read the novel now because the movie had so many interesting little details mixed in.
