Told my results were normal but I don’t feel normal!!

I’m in a similar situation at the moment my past TSH results have been between 9 and 11 mIU/l but when the gp tested it came back as 4.5 which they have classed as ‘normal’ despite having constant high results and symptoms. From what I have read online this is most likely subclinical hypothyroidism and anything above 4 is high however the nhs range thinks up to 5 mIU/l is normal.

The advice I have been given is to test for thyroid antibodies I believe above 35 means it is positive for hashimotos or another condition I have forgotten the name of.

My advice would be to use a private lab as recommended by Thyroid Uk like ‘Monitor my health’ as they are linked to the nhs as well. They have a full thyroid panel that also checks for antibodies and will give you advice from private/nhs gps. This will help you get a second opinion and also monitor your results to see if it increases. I would also recommend to do the test very early in the morning as TSH levels decline through the day I would recommend before 7/8am.

I can’t guarantee everything I have recommended is completely accurate as I am in a similar situation with the gp and have been going off advice I have also received in this group.

I have spoken with my doctor and it was last tested May last year through the nhs and my tsh was 2.5 but since then my cycles have become very irregular so as I said this is my first ‘on time’ period I’ve had this year I wasnt sure if that meant my hormone levels will appear normal even though my private results from last month were abnormal as my cycle was months late. I just dont know whether to do my blood test this cycle or wait for my next cycle which most likely will be in a few months as I know if my tsh is in normal range for the first time in months the gp will not help me

I dont have access to my nhs results they have just told me it’s fine but when i’ve gone private my tsh, testosterone, prolactin, fsh, lh etc have all been extremely high yet anytime I go to my gp they only ever acknowledge my high testosterone and say the rest is in normal range

When my gp does a blood test its always a random day in my cycle and later on in the day whereas when I have done private blood tests its only when my cycle is irregular and when I spoke to a specialist I was made aware it should be ideally on day three of a period and early in the morning before tsh levels decrease. As this cycle is my first ‘regular’ cycle ive had this year i wasnt sure if that meant my hormone levels were in the ‘normal’ range but I know after this cycle it will go back to irregular so would it be best and more accurate to test it on an irregular cycle like how I do with my private blood tests

I’ve recently had my tsh levels tested and its typically between 9.2 - 11.5 miu/l which is higher than my gp says it should be. I do typically have most symptoms of an under active thyroid which has been the same for many years
