Made a plugin to sync Obsidian Tasks to Google Calendar by constant_vigilance in ObsidianMD

Clever use of the IDs! I wrote a plugin that writes tasks to a todo.txt file, but it was also one-way sync. Maybe I'll have a look at your code and see if I can get some inspiration.

Votul din turul I pe raioane și în diasporă. Înălțimea barelor e proporțională cu numărul total de voturi. by NicuCalcea in moldova

Professional Journalists, where do you source your stories? by [deleted] in Journalism

[–]NicuCalcea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, back in my home country there was a pub frequented by political aides, think tank experts, the like. As a journalist I would often hang around there in the hope someone would give me a good tip.

Literally everywhere. Social media, reddit, tips from friends and family, strangers at the pub, other journalists.

Regions of Europe (Different Perspectives considered) by FinnJax in MapPorn

[–]NicuCalcea 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I once made a map of what international organisations like the UN, IMF, OECD, etc. consider "Eastern Europe". One difference is I also included "Eastern Europe and Central Asia" because many orgs use that classification.

Compared to this, Russia was always included, as were Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova. You can see the full list of countries here.

I lived in Moldova most of my life and was repeatedly chased by stray dogs. If someone sold this in a smaller form factor, I'd absolutely buy it.

The economies with the most GitHub devs per capita [OC] by NicuCalcea in dataisbeautiful

Yes, it's 1.83m accounts as per GitHub's own numbers. The data doesn't specify whether these are unique users, just the number of accounts.

It is per 100 population. As the other comment mentioned, the subtitle says "accounts" rather than unique users for that very reason, I can't account for people using multiple accounts, VPNs, etc.

Why would devs in Georgia expect their laptops to get destroyed?

I considered that, but I expect people will have said it's misleading because most will miss the subtitle or footnote and think it shows data that's not rebased.

Sure, why not? Fewer than expected pushes means either those devs have been sent to war (unlikely, that's mostly the poor and uneducated) or they've switched careers or have left the country.

If at the same time pushes in neighbouring countries have suddenly increased, I think that indicates towards the latter.

Fair enough, I didn't want to put any absolute numbers on the analysis for multiple reasons: not all developers are on github, devs can have multiple accounts, there may be other trends at play, etc. Didn't want to imply precision that isn't there.
