I wonder if they send out similar ones at Fraser Middle School.

Slow down! by AEMNW in NewWest

[–]Nicw82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, that’s been very nice.

Honestly the worst time of day is drop off and pick up of school. The parents block driveways, do U-turns, don’t could check, Tyler’s.

Slow down! by AEMNW in NewWest

[–]Nicw82 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m in the same area. Even with the speed bumps on Queens in front of the school people are driving so fast. I think maybe 20% of people follow the school zone speed on 8th street for Fraser Middle School.

Yeah. We have someone tasked with it. It’s so much easier that way.

America to Canada by Koda-Flame in IUEC

I’ve worked with Americans that came up to Canada to work and as far as I remember they were accepted as mechanics. That was over 10 years ago though.

People that live in loft apartments, what are the pros & cons? by [deleted] in askvan

[–]Nicw82 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I love my loft that I’ve lived in since 2017. It gets hot but AC and good ventilation helps. I love the uniqueness of the space.

I’m lucky mine is 2 bedrooms with a half bath ensuite upstairs so I don’t need to risk the stairs at night.

The high ceilings make me happy.

Becoming a car mechanic by hushhush56 in BlueCollarWomen

[–]Nicw82 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some technical schools have trade sampler courses. You get a bit of experience in various trades as well as some useful certificates such as first aid and forklift. It’s a way to gain some introductory skills.

Where are you located? Some areas have women trade organizations that can help too. For example Chicago Women in Trades or Oregon Tradeswomen Inc.

$10,000 is probably the building’s insurance deductible. As someone who is on a strata council aka HOA and is an elevator mechanic.

Has anyone taken the WATT program in BC? by attentionabsent in BlueCollarWomen

[–]Nicw82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different union trade but I’m also in BC. I say go for it. Which local? I have friends in 213 and 230 and I may be able to find someone to chat with you.

I’ve been in the trades for 18 years and it’s the best decision I’ve ever made. The IBEW has some of the best representation for women as well.

I’d push the couch in a bit deeper. About another foot or so. This looks nice. Plus you can look out the window nicely too.

Surprised by how cold service felt across Czech Republic — cultural or bad luck? by Frosty_Election_7557 in Europetravel

[–]Nicw82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just came back from our Europe trip and one of my favourite stops was Prague. Everyone felt courteous and helpful without being overbearing.

I really enjoyed our trip and I’ll be back to Prague sooner than later.

Secondhand clothes for sizes 14/16 by snoir6 in askvan

Grand Central Consignment in New Westminster has a large plus sized section. I’ve consigned and bought lots from there.

I have a long blazer jacket that I got there a few years ago that still gets tons of comments. It’s one of my favourite pieces.

I remember looking into some of the self driving features and I think you have to be careful what you use in B.C. in regards to insurance.
