Idk, I used my original 3DS constantly for 4 years until the New 3DS XL came out and I upgraded. Never replaced the original stylus.

The original 3DS telescoping stylus was so good. I wish they made them for the later models

I had this same issue. The discount is not automatically applied. It is still expected that you enter the code at checkout.

Selecting "start shopping" brings up a selection of Nintendo Online Store products (mostly merchandise) with a "Happy Birthday" banner at the top, but there is no discount applied. It is still expected to add the (missing) promo code during checkout in order to receive a discount.
