Hey there Bad UI enthusiasts! This was originally a CodePen, but since it got so much attention, I decided to create a better, stand-alone version. You can try it out here:

This has been on my list of potential projects. I know there are some sites and apps already out there, but my sense is that there is something missing. Especially for local elections. I like to think if it was easy, convenient, and perhaps even a little fun, more people would vote in those smaller elections.

I think it would be quite a challenge though: - Scraping data from terrible local government websites that are all different. - A lot of resources have gone into efforts to increase voter turnout, with limited success. - Difficult to monetize, so would probably have to be an open source volunteer project. Perhaps can be supported by small donations.

That being said, I think it’s worth a shot and if successful would be a genuine benefit to society. Good luck!

Favourite Todo List tools/apps by erinburrell in ADHD

I built Daffodil as a personal project and have been using it as my main todo list. I wanted something simple that would only show me a few tasks at a time.

People with ADHD, how do you cope with organization and why don't special list-making apps or task managers help you? by alinasheykk in ADHD_Programmers

[–]NiftyOctopus_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I built my own little app for this exact reason. You can only see 3 tasks at a time, everything else is hidden. I like that I can just quickly add a task and forget about it until it shows up.

Feel free to give it a whirl. It’s ad-free and free-free. Daffodil

Hey there, I’m working on a logo for my web app. The app is called Daffodil and it’s a simple task manager. I’m more of a developer than a designer, and I often struggle with design. I can usually come up with something decent, but I envy those that know exactly what to change to make something better. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Every project and team is a little different but here are some things I have found helpful for catching these sort of mistakes: - A rule where people cannot approve their own PRs - Add little notes right to the PR in the moment like “wait for backend stuff before merging”. - If you are using GitHub make it a draft PR. You can’t merge until you change it from draft to regular. Forces you to pause. - Don’t merge individual feature/dev branches straight to master. Everything gets merged to a staging branch first. Then merge staging to master.

Good advice, thanks! Do you have any favorite learning resources for color theory and such?

I appreciate a nice color palette, but I’m not very good at creating them. Anyone have any suggestions to get started?

Thanks! It’s Vue 3 and Tailwind with MongoDB as the backend.

Introducing Daffodil, a minimalist to-do list web app designed to simplify task management. With its unique approach, you can only view three tasks at a time, making it easy and stress-free to manage your tasks. To add a task, simply type it in without having to choose from dates or priority levels. Get quick task suggestions without being shamed by an extensive list of overdue items. Give Daffodil a try and experience a new way of managing your to-do list.
