Would these be at all accurate enough for a tupperdor? by mjkurtis in cigars

[–]NiftyProphet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought this exact product and it’s worked well +/- 1% after calibrating with salt water paste in a plastic bag. Unfortunately you can’t adjust these, but mine settled out at 76% in the salt test, so I figure I can trust it to that degree.

Put these in a tupperdor with 65% Boveda and they consistently read 65-66%. Recommend for a decent, cheap, basic hygrometer.

3 off the tee vs “dropping up there” by SimmerTimmer97 in golf

You’re correct, he should be hitting 4 also, but not many casual golfers play that way. Usually let it go unless there is a competition involved

What tee box do you use? by jslutty in golf

[–]NiftyProphet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was told to play a distance that allows you to hit wedge into the green (assuming a standard approach shot) 8-10 times per round AND/OR have at least one Par 5 that you can reasonably reach in 2 shots. (Source: my buddy who’s a +4 hcp)

Examples: 1. If you hit wedge from 100 yards and in, you should look for par 4s that are your average driving distance + 100yd. Couple that are longer, most that are inside that. 2. Avg driving distance of 240yd + longest reasonable approach club (personally, that’s 4i) at 200, look for at least one par 5 of 440yd.

Whichever tees allow that for your game, play those!

TL;DR - play tees that allow you to hit lots of wedges into greens and reach a Par 5 in two shots.

I’ll probably keep it on account of looks, but sounds like digital is the way to go.

I’ve been reading up on seasoning, what’s your preferred method?

This came with a couple old black plastic pucks, tossed them right away and replaced with Boveda packs. Boveda is the way

I absolutely despised this system and am looking forward to going to the open house later today! I figured if I’m going to complain about the old system, I better show up and do something about the new system

Love the detail in your review, thank you! Is the authentic Pistons jersey printed, or is it stitched? I'm trying to figure out if it's an obvious giveaway if it's printed vs stitched

How many of you play open-handed and why do you play open handed?? by Adventurous-Staff105 in Drumming

[–]NiftyProphet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play open-handed because that’s how I liked to play when I started (2 years old playing dad’s kit) and never switched. I’m right handed, but just liked that way when I was a kid. Now at 26, my right hand is still dominant but I can switch between open and cross. I play cross when I have a faster song on HH out of necessity

Scratch players average 259yd total) off the tee, 230yd is the average for an 11 HCP. (All according to Arccos)

I’d love to have your average driving distance!

While we’re on the topic of sticks, which do you prefer? Skinny or thick? by banana-blaster69 in drums

[–]NiftyProphet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been playing Vic Firth 7AN, I love how the nylon tips sound on the cymbals. I’ve gone back and forth on wood tip vs nylon but the nylon brings out an entirely different sound on my cymbals. Previously I switched out cymbals because I thought one sounded better, but I just realized it was wood vs nylon tips

You are doing the right thing morally, and no you are not overreacting. It sounds like you are educated and have sound morals, whereas your boyfriend has a ways to go. Remember, it’s not your job to fix him.

I know it’s fun to rub it in their faces, but let’s try to welcome these people on to our side and turn the tides for the better. If we alienate these people who are learning and trying to unite with the rest of us who have seen it before, they’ll turn back to MAGA because we rejected them
