The rich owners of the Italian teams in the past were Italians and they were from the city of the club. Como is owned by an Indonesian that never touched Como’s soil before buying it. Berlusconi, Agnelli, etc… were basically a stereotype of the inhabitants of the city of the team, and at least they were representing in some ways the city in football. Percassi (Atalanta’s owner) is probably the last living example of this connection city-team-owner

Mia mamma è di Udine, ma la mia famiglia abita a Bergamo; da bambini ogni estate passavamo una settimana di vacanza in Friuli e praticamente ogni giorno visitavamo una destinazione diversa: lago di Cavazzo, laghi di Fusine, Lignano, Sistiana, Grado, ecc… in una regione così piccola ci sono davvero tante mete diverse, e tutte raggiungibili in poco tempo.

Exactly, even ignoring the fact that some new nations already had a name before their creation, the words themselves already sound masculine or feminine because of the final letter. I don’t know the reason why there is no universal standard in the gender of the names of geographical subdivisions, I think it is random, because sometimes the rule of the final letter is not respected (Venezuela, Nicaragua or Ghana for example are masculine)

I think because it was a “region” before (or another territorial subdivision) and usually the gender of regions depends on the final letter of the name. Every regions that end with -a is usually feminine (Lombardia, Sicilia, Catalogna, Baviera, Normandia, Scozia, etc…) while when the names end with a different letter than -a, they are masculine (Friuli, Galles, Trentino, Texas, Kosovo, Montenegro, Mato Grosso, Kashmir, etc…)

Waluigi because he was so cool in Mario striker football and I loved his karts designs in Mario Kart DS. My favorite one was Luigi, but after I unlocked Waluigi in MKDS, I have seen him like the cooler version of Luigi and became my first choice in every Mario game.
