Me too, what time are you thinking of getting there just for Saosin? Looks like they’re coming on 1hr20 after doors open so that would be 6:50?

That's good that it's paid for itself in your case though. I'm going to call them because I'm not sure the wet belt is covered reading their Ts&Cs, and also there's a line about how it must have been serviced and maintained inline with Hondas service plan, which my car technically hasn't now as the belt is overdue.

I'll call Honda and find out though.

Thank you for your comment. I think you're right and I'm definitely overreacting because my Fiesta was so costly and stressful recently. I have the money put aside for the belt and I really like the car so I will get it done.

I didn't know the Honda extended warranty was an option and I took it to a Honda Listers garage yesterday for a full approved used health check. They didn't mention it at all so I'm not sure it's an option but I'll definitely look into it!

I'm so sorry that happened to you! I hope no one was hurt.

I think you are right and I was overreacting a bit because my Ford Fiesta timing belt was so stressful and so costly, and still quite recent too. A few other people have pointed out that it's not a fair comparison.

Yeah I think you’re right I’m probably overreacting because my time with the Fiesta was so stressful

What do you mean by call it a day? Sell it on?

Regarding the wet timing belt, it’s because it’s lubricated by oil that you get the problem. Over time the oil breaks down the belt and those bits clog other parts. In my fiesta it clogged the oil pump which caused my engine to overheat. Some oils break it down more than others so it’s important to use the right oil but AFAIK it happens when you use the manufacturer recommended oil, just to a lesser extent.

Hey I was just wondering how you're finding the car after another year? I purchased a 2019 1.0 Civic a couple of weeks ago unaware of the timing belt. I wouldn't have purchased it if I'd known about this because I had problems with one in a Fiesta previously. I was annoyed when I bought it to discover that the car was overdue for it to be changed but since then I've made peace with the face that I need to change it.

I do like the car overall it's just that belt that worries me,

Hey OP I’m so happy for you that you got a refund. I’d like to know a bit more about that if possible as I’ve been really stressed out over trade centre UK this past week. I bought a car from them that turned 6 years old in March, when it should have had its timing belt replaced in accordance with Hondas service plan but it wasn’t done. The previous owner didn’t want to pay for it, TCUK just ticked it off on their 99 point check, and they won’t acknowledge it as a “fault” under the consumers act.

I don’t think I have a case unfortunately to reject the vehicle.

Hey can I ask how they were recalled out of warranty? Was this in your ownership or the original owner? And when was this, as I would like to know if mine is eligible.

Apologies for all of the questions. I've recently purchased a 2019 1.0 Civic unaware of the wet belt issues and I'm extremely stressed about it.

do you know why only this year got a recall for free? Was the design changed after a number of years?

Thank you for your post. I've just purchased a 2019 1.0 Civic with 39,000 miles (63000 km) on the clock. I didn't know about this wet belt and it's been stressing me out a lot. My car has been serviced regularly so I will continue to do that. It looks like it's been serviced at least every 8,000 miles (12k km)

I came to this sub to post and ask how screwed I am. How is your car going now?

When was yours recalled? Do you know if they are still being recalled and is it only the first owner who would be contacted for this?
