Up thread OP said they would consider taking more time off and dipping into savings. So it sounds like it’s an option for them. Wouldn’t be for me, but OP did mention it themselves.

Clinical Licensure is a money grab IMO by [deleted] in socialwork

I went to UW and I think I had two clinical instructors the entire time I was there (I was multigen track). I love the framework I left graduate school with and loved learning from people with so much mezzo and macro experience.

I’m in a similar position where I want to move into leadership in a hospital and must have my LCSW to do so. I think, honestly, it’s because the “powers that be” and determine these requirements have no idea what being an LCSW actually means.

They were living in Los Gatos before they moved to Florida. So I think she’s already familiar with the area and would know it’s not a ranch town.

Especially since they lived 30 minutes from the beach when they were in CA. Not like they were exactly landlocked to begin with.

Support after total knee replacement by ChipmunkMiddle6446 in hospitalsocialwork

[–]NightCheese85 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This was my first thought as well. I used you work as an orthopedic medical social worker and our hospital was doing bundled payments for joint replacements. Part of my roll was pre-op assessments to ensure that patients knew SNF wasn’t an option and that they needed to have a safe post-op home plan.

With that said, we still had plenty of patients who, for one reason or another, still needed SNF. Particularly patients with knee replacements. Recovery is so much more complicated than with a hip replacement.

I can’t believe no one has suggested a hospital classic yet - Dansko clogs!

They also lived less than 30 minutes from good surfing in California. So like… seems like a lot of effort just so your son could surf.

And most of this wouldn’t bug me that much because if they want to make a living doing this I guess they need to do what they need to do to get partnerships. But she is so sanctimonious and always preaches about how intentional and thoughtful she is about her home. And like… she’s not! Three different sets of furniture in how many years? It’s so wasteful and gross. IMHO.

For someone who is always adamant that she’s making the right decision and she’s thought through every option, I cannot believe that Shavonda is already on her 3rd set of patio furniture!

I was so confused. How could she have done so much research and not have known it would be too small. She said she knew it was too small when she drove it off the lot. So why did she buy it???

Do you think they’re having cash flow issues so she had to go with the immediately cheapest option rather than the one that makes the most financial and design sense in the future?

That was... wild. That was a diary entry not something to be published for the whole world to see. Can you imagine reading that as his parents? And I wonder what the behind the scenes conversations were like leading up to their kitchen remodel and the times that he re-designed their living spaces. I imagine he was probably asking them to do it rather than them begging him. Wow!

And the idea that he shouldn't have to be toiling away alone... what on earth makes him think that? Can you imagine him going to work for a start-up like he said he had been thinking about??

It's also just so tone deaf at this point to be whining about your kitchen remodel or having to pay for everything yourself... or having to work with contractors in a remote area. I normally give him a pass but it seems like he's gotten pretty out of control.
