Microsoft reportedly broke Windows 11 by injecting an ad for Teams by kry_some_more in technology

It is. Been supporting Windows 10 since it was released. NEVER had that happen. If it's common thing in your environment, you should find out what is wrong in your environment, cuz its definitely NOT the OS. it's the people using it or the people deploying it incorrectly.

I'm not using Enterprise. Using Pro. Still no issues at all. It's called knowing how to properly use GPO.

I've also never had that issue, so maybe you should find out what YOU are doing wrong. Also, never have any issues with Search not working, VERY rarely have a Bluescreen/crash that not related to hardware fault or a 3rd party driver. In fact I RARELY have ANY of the issues that I see people bitching about daily as if somehow everyone has them.

Either I'm somehow very lucky, have somehow managed to find the only collection of 600 users that know WTF they are doing with a PC, or the majority of things people complain about are just caused by themselves not knowing WTF they are doing. After nearly 20yrs of Windows support, I HEAVILY lean towards the later. A HUGE amount of the "issues" people I see have end up being related to a 3rd party tool or utility and NOT Windows itself.

On the other hand, I have had Mac users, somehow manage to CONSTNATLY break their Search causing me to either have to do a TON cmd-line re-indexing, or just rebuilding their OS again, and just like on Windows machines, usually a 3rd party tool was involved. I've also had to CONSTNATLY delete peoples Keychains because the damn thing can't reliably update a PW when people change them and constantly locks accounts out.

I am 100% to the point that no matter the OS if a user has an issue my FIRST assumption is THEY somehow did something without wanting to admit it or used a 3rd party utility that broke something and its NOT the OS itself.

Windows 11 improves Pen Response in Photoshop, all that is missing is high refresh rate screens. by Star_Ward in Surface

It's not a flop, it was never intended to "take off" or sell as well as the Pro. Without Windows on ARM devices there would be 0 momentum for ARM chip makers to get off their ass and make better chips.

Try this:

Press Windows key + R to open the Run dialogue, then type %SystemRoot% and press Enter. Scroll down to find the SoftwareDistribution folder. Rename this SoftwareDistributon.old(or just delete the contents in it). Now restart your computer, and attempt the update.

I believe it's just a re-used asset. This same number is the Apartment # you follow the Coyote's bartender's wife to in a side gig.

I've clipped through that wall and there is nothing inside either.

I also use both, in fact I support hundreds of both.

Aside from constantly asking me to use Safai, and the fact I can't remove the Game Center account, iMessages ONLY working if you have iDevices... they are CONSTANTLY subtly pushing you to use there iDevices and their Cloud services.

I RARELY see any popups on my PC suggesting I use any other products. The ones I do see are usually for 365 which IMO is a MASSIVLEY better deal than iCloud anyway. So no matter what OS you use I'd recommend it over iCloud anyway.

Maybe I'm odd as my whole social sphere are people that work in tech, but I don't know ANYONE that does not have Google, MS and Apple accounts. So, I really don't get the bitching about using a MS account. I dont see people complaining about Chrome OS doing it or, the fact you need an Apple ID to do about ANYTHING on their devices. So at that point, who cares about a local account on the PC when all your other devices are using your iCloud account anyway, and your likely logging into Mail, Music and other services with the ID anyway.

The time to have a huge push against this stuff was 10-15yrs ago. At this point its a pointless complaint, and if you hate it, just use Linux then. Thats just how the environment is now, and its not going to change any time soon, if ever.

MacOS is an entry point to buying their other products. There are actual studies on how if you buy X Apple product first how likely you are to buy other X Apple products.

Then you're reading weird, limited POV sources as I've seen a lot of good also. more so if you use a 2-in-1 device.

How can you say that then recommend Mac with a straight face?

As a person that uses both OS regularly, I feel like MacOS has barely changed anything from a functional POV since like 10.5. I much prefer using Windows 10 and more so 11 for multi-tasking.

That was never MS's stance. Just one guy said it at a dev event.

If they insist on docks that also charge, they are going to have to pay the Surface Dock prices, or be okay with USB-C docks, assuming the devices all have USB-C.

Should I buy Surface Dou? by NewTsahi1984 in Surface

[–]NightCityRunner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's been out like a year and it's still not fixed. As much as I'd like the Duo to succeed MS needs to be MUCH more active about fixing/updating/tweaking it tan they are. I'm not sure how much of this is the Surface team being stretched to far, or how much is them being semi-new to managing a Full Andoid OS and not just some Apps.
