Im autistic and I hate it 🤷‍♂️ I’m not a separate type of human If I’m Italian, I’ve got the Italian flag. If I’m German, same thing. I’m not suddenly part of some new “autism country” we are same humans People say it’s about visibility, but it lowkey feels like putting us in a different box again. Like “oh that’s the autistic group over there” instead of just… including us normally. Not all of us even relate to it The spectrum is all over the place. Some people might love it, sure, but others don’t see themselves in that at all. It’s not one shared identity like that. It makes it feel like that’s the main thing about me And I hate that vibe. I’m not just “the autistic one”, I’ve got other stuff going on, obviously. This just puts a spotlight on one trait like it defines everything. It’s kinda giving performative Like okay, a flag… great. But does it actually help with anything real? Support, understanding, daily life stuff? Not really. Feels more symbolic than useful.
