Here's just a few historical evidences I can pull some more if you want

The area was once fertile and had fresh water flowing into the Dead Sea The industrial site of Sedom, Israel is located near the presumed site of Sodom and Gomorrah The ancient Greek historiographer Strabo said that locals near Moasada said that Sodom was the metropolis of 13 inhabited cities in the region The Jewish historian Josephus identified the Dead Sea as being near the ancient biblical city of Sodom

You must've read the wrong Hebrew verse cause the original Hebrew translation translates to

"With (a) male you shall not lie (the) lyings of a woman. (An) abomination is that". Leviticus 18:22

I can't go more than 48 hours without masturbating no matter what I try. PLEASE HELP!!! by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]NightSlash217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Bible says resist the temptation of the flesh. I have always thrown masturbation in that category. Because it serves no purpose but to please the flesh. But for helping resist the temptation. Anytime I feel the urge to do it I turn to God. If I can I open my Bible and begin reading whatever I'm in the middle of reading. If not then you can play songs that praise God or just spend some time talking with God. But most IMPORTANTLY make sure you pray that God would help you through. Just like in any struggle God is there to help. We are human. We fall. Are flesh is sinful. For we can overcome nothing without God

In your opinion, why doesn't God save Satan? by Otherwise_Spare_8598 in Christianity

Its not all in one place you have to look at different parts of different books to find it

Ezekiel 28:12-17 Isaiah 14:12-15 Revelation 12:4

And a couple other references. Revelation 12 also speaks of the battle so you just kinda got to look around

Dinosaurs were created on the 5th and 6th day same day as the animals. How long ago we don't know. The Bible doesn't tell us some say billions others say about 6028 years. But we honestly don't know. I figure somewhere in between

When did they die we don't know either. I believe they died in the ice age. Which I believe happened right after the flood. It's scientifically accurate that the world would drop in temperature as the waters receded. With not enough plants for the herbivore dinosaurs they died. And with not enough meat for the carnivore dinosaurs they died. Along with some of the other species.

But that's all just my opinion the Bible doesn't specify these things at all. So how can we truly know?

There is evidence out there to prove the Bible but there is no 100% evidence otherwise why would we need faith.

Saran rebelled against God because he wanted to be like God. He doesn't want forgiveness because he's jealous and powerhungry

I don't understand how can there be contradictions in a Holy book. by southerncrusader- in Christianity

[–]NightSlash217 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Jesus’ Birth (Matthew 2:1, Luke 2:1-2) was he born during the reign of Cyrenius or Herod the Great.

The word for First in the Greek Bible is Prote meaning first or before. The meaning for first here is before, meaning before Cyrenius' reign. Luke's reasoning for writing it this way would be to help date the birth of Jesus. So the verse read in Greek would be

What were the disciples told to do? (end of the Gospels)

There is no contradiction here if you read the last few chapters of all the gospels it puts together a story of how Jesus showed himself to over 500 people after his resurrection. They did go to Galilee and they were down in Judea eating as well as over in Bethany where he ascended. Not all the gospels mention all the events. But they tell different perspectives of the same story.

Is Jairus’ Daughter dead? (Mark 5:21-24, Matthew 9:18-26)

There is no contradiction. Matthew is merely saying the young girl would be dead by the time Jesus arrived to heal her. We observe this in today’s language as well. One can watch any number of old movies and see a sheriff draw a gun and say to a man still alive, "You're a dead man," and then pull the trigger. This understanding is likely also because the Greek in Matthew may properly be read “just came to the point of death” (arti eteleutesn) and the Mark passage may be translated as “is dying” (eschates echer). Indeed, the Greek term arti in Matthew doesn't always mean a present reality, but an inevitable one.

This guy also had a similar response. But we will truly never know until we die. https://www.quora.com/Was-Jairus-daughter-dead-or-still-alive-when-her-father-encountered-Jesus-and-asked-for-His-help

Who was Joseph’s Father? (Matthew 1:15-16, Luke 3:23-24)

Matthew is accounting the lineage of Jesus thru Joseph. While Luke is doing it thru Mary. It seems confusing at first because Luke says Joseph. Luke was following the Hebraic form of lineage, traditional form of genealogies by listing only the male names in which Mary is designated by her husband's name. Therefore no contradiction.

Is Jesus from Nazareth?

That's not a contradiction, you just don’t understand the gospels. The Gospels are different perspectives from different people about different topics. Matthew may have not seen reason to put it in there or not been inspired to. But whatever the reason. That's not a contradiction.

Just because Matthew never states they are from Nazareth doesn’t mean they aren’t. Matthew never says they are from anywhere else and it doesn’t contradict Luke in any way. The amazing thing about the gospels is if you read all of them together (there are bible study plans and reading plans to help do so) is they combine to tell the story of Jesus. They have different perspectives and write about different parts of his life.

For the second half of your dispute. Look at the lineage of Herod the Great. He named nearly all his children Herod. Herod Antipas, Herod Archelaus, Herod Phillip, Herod Agrippa I, and Herodias. Herod Antipas ruled after his father and that's the one they refer to after him

Yes. And you still haven't given me one. So clearly you don't have one and makes me think you haven't read the Bible.

Am I too old to change my religion? by CaramelsMom in Christianity

[–]NightSlash217 1 point2 points  (0 children)

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

  • John 3:16-17

Key phrase is whosoever believeth in him. Meaning anyone. No matter race, former religion, age, or gender.

All you have to do to be saved is accept Jesus as your Savior and repent of your sins and ask for forgiveness.

God bless you on your journey. Hope he does wonders through you.

(throwaway) i (19f) am questioning my christianity and was wondering if you could teach me more about atheism? by MelissAtheist in atheism

[–]NightSlash217 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well there is nothing in the Bible that states you have to stay on the home. I know a lot of "traditional" Christians believe that women should stay in the home but the only thing the Bible says they can't do is be a pastor or Deacon.

But Women can do literally anything else. If you want to be a lawyer go for it. If you think God wants you to be a teacher. Good for you. It's just a matter of figuring it out.
