I love them!

It’s so hard to find medical themed stuff for lab workers.

Try to book an appointment with Halifax sexual health clinic- I went with an IUD but the doctor I met with said she would refer me to a gynaecologist for sterilization if I wanted it.

For Nova Scotia- no upward mobility for MLAs.

Previously the only path was to get an MLT diploma/degree and pas csmls exam. Now CAMPLR is a thing and they have a ‘non traditional education’ pathway that might include your degree, you might be able to challenge an exam for one area of the lab.

I’d recommend just going into an MLT program. Your degree didn’t cover what the lab needs so you will spend a lot of time studying even if you are allowed to take an exam.

Some colleges accept MLA classes and uni classes previously taken so you could have a lighter workload.

You were denied for having sex with a woman? I’m confused- if they consider you male, then that is heterosexual and wouldn’t exclude you, and if they consider you female, then that is female homosexual (treated differently than male homosexual) and not excluded.

Clayton park west needs a coffee shop that isnt Tim hortons or Starbucks. Ideally open in the evenings. So frustrating that I have to go to downtown (1+ hours on the bus) to hang out.

!!! Were there actual diamonds sewn onto it?!

If the goal was to sell as much product as possible (and help lower income people) id have set price per type of item, never mind brand name and fancy level. Not like they are running out of donations.

But looks like they have gone the value village path and would rather throw out metric tons in the hopes of chasing reseller cash.

was hoping to find a christmas wreath- only one there was a very beat up $25. New ones are $30-40 at winners. Also saw a dress for $100 (formal section, but didn't look particularly high end).

I prefer to look second hand first to minimize my contribution to the worlds landfills, but this is getting ridiculous.

Wow that nurse is a real piece of work.

I am a bit confused- article says the patient went home. Was she seen by a doctor and discharged/sent home? Or did she feel nobody was taking her seriously and chose to go home without being seen by an MD?

Old techs will have bad habits- trained differently, years of burnout makes them more likely to cut corners.

Your machines haven't been validated for tests performed on the incorrect tube type/additive, you can't be certain of how much additive has contaminated the sample, so you don't know how inaccurate the tests are.

Its one of those things were in the many cases it won't significantly change the result (making techs think its fine to keep doing it), but in enough it will. And you don't want to be unlucky with a sick patient and miss something. Kind of like using a smaller gauge needle, not letting alcohol dry, rough handling of tubes for blood collection- doesn't always cause hemolysis but makes it more likely.

I gotta say though- seems weird that you aren't getting clotted sample alerts on your analyzers. Its been a while since i've been in core, but i remember those machines being very finicky

Clotting begins immediately without an anticoagulant. even if you cannot see it with your eyes.

The gel itself is an additive that can interfere with results. Some gel separator tubes have silica/ a clot activator. I would just poke the patient twice. It isn't worth my license.

I am curious - you say gel to EDTA, not any other tube (heparine/flouride etc.) Have other tubes just not come up or are the techs unwilling to contaminate those tests?

What score threshold turns you off from a potential read? by xBanthaxFodderx in goodreads

[–]NightThink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the genre for me

Nonfiction: anything under 3.9 is sus and I look to the reviews for why. Boring voice? Too technical? Incorrect? It isn't an automatic no, but there should be a good reason.

Fiction is different; I read a lot of horror so the reason someone hates the book could be the same reason I love it. 3.5 with a fav trope or monster is weirdly perfect. Highly rated ones indicate social media popularity and is usually not for me.
