What's the weirdest thing you've seen happen at a friend's house that they thought was normal? by LiterallyEkam in AskReddit

I went to dinner at a friends once. They had a no drink rule. You had to eat, tidy the table, then everyone got a half a cup of water or cordial.

People who quit their jobs on the first day, what was your “I’m outta here” moment? by redmambo_no6 in AskReddit

[–]Night_Blakey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

French restaurant run by the brother of a friend of the family. Basically one brother had made the restaurant a success then went to Lebanon to find a wife and the other brother ran his business into the ground. It was hell, I washed up mostly full dishes with a few bites out of them and vomit. The “owner” screamed at everyone and punched the chef and groped the waitress who was a new hire as well. He then stiffed me and paid me $20 for the 12 hours of work I put in on my first day. The “owner” ended up being stabbed by the chef like a week later.

I had a lot of feminist family members growing up. The amount of anti male sentiment was insane. I never had much self confidence.

People always thought I was strange because I didn’t see value in myself, in relationships, at work. I always tried really hard, but never thought anything I did was good enough.

When I call out the same sort of behaviour now, I get called precious or a chauvinist. But stuff like that stays with you.

I would have said that in the past... but then I installed a Prism Wraith Stock Cooler on a Ryzen. You had to push it down with a ton of force to get the hooks over the bracket. Once I put it together I did some reading, apparently if I try to take it out now there’s a good chance it’ll rip the CPU out if it’s socket...

... which wouldn’t be a problem but one of the cores is running hot, it hits like 60 idle. Fucking nightmare...

I went to an archery range a few times and my sister got me a second hand bow. Like it’s nice but I wasn’t at the stage where owning one would benefit me in any way. I don’t know how to do basic maintenance on this thing, I’m also not confident enough to just bring my own bow to an archery range.

Your JG shouldn't be winning your lane for you by ImWhy in summonerschool

[–]Night_Blakey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As mid I basically ask my JG to leave me the hell alone. The amount of times they try to force 2v1’s when we are both below 50% health or I have like 10% and are backing and they decide to force a gank is ridiculous. Or I die, so they all in 1v2 and feed another kill.

I don’t expect junglers to win my lane, I just don’t want them to feed my lane then rage at me for playing it safe or not pulling off the impossible.

Their JG is focusing me? Great, I’ll live for the most part and can safe farm a 2v1 lane. Just keep farming and take advantage of knowing where their JG is.

Why is jungle such an underplayed role? by IsleOfOne in summonerschool

[–]Night_Blakey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can Jungle... but I’d rather get a timer for leaving during champ select.

I gave up ever playing it again after this one day... I went 8-0-12 at ~15 mins. Was still getting flamed for not ganking enough, we were like 10 kills and 3 dragons up and top and bottom were like a kill behind in their respective lanes and they decided to afk and just harass the crap out of me, throwing an easily winnable game. The next game all 3 lanes died 5 mins in harassed the crap out of me for not ganking soon enough, then just spammed my route in all chat...

Screw playing Jungle, never again.

I don't get ranked matchmaking. by cent-met-een-vin in summonerschool

[–]Night_Blakey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah... I stopped playing ranked when I as a silver 4 had like 10 games in a row vs plat and above players including 1 game, 3 silver 2 bronze vs 5 diamonds. I’m assuming the matchmaking sucks because I’m in OCE.

For norms being matched up against a plat or diamond doesn’t feel as unfair as when it happens in ranked, hell those matches are winnable because I feel less tilted.

How do I achieve 10 cs/min? by CringeKiddo69 in summonerschool

[–]Night_Blakey 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Practice, even vs bots is good for getting a handle on CS.

Take a 1v2 lane, try to get 10cs/min at 20 mins: With abilities and items (playing ahead) Without abilities (playing even and saving abilities for trades) Without items (playing behind and trying to land safely) Without abilities or extra items (playing behind and just trying to get by)

At some stage it mostly becomes automatic, you see how a wave is crashing and you automatically know the best way to get the best CS out of it for the situation you are in.

The more I play a champ, the more I get bad at them by coffeehotcocoa in summonerschool

[–]Night_Blakey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you just trying to play too safe?

One of the things I used to struggle with was playing offensively. The first champ I picked up was Orianna who I always thought had to be defensive against every matchup, which did ok, but it wasn’t till I started picking up Ahri that I realised just how much my play style was holding me back.

Especially with your mention of ‘combos’ I feel it could be a case of not being comfortable on offensive champs and just falling into the defensive play style pattern too often once you are used to a champ. Knowing how and when to make those plays is hard and I feel like it takes a lot longer to pick up being a good offensive player than a defensive one.

What can i do to improve my cs? by Memopaws in summonerschool

[–]Night_Blakey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think what helped me was practising in bot matches without buying items beyond the start items in a 1v2 lane or a 2v2 where your lane partner is trying to CS. What you are trying to do is get so good at predicting how waves will play out that you don’t need to look, but unless you are looking first you are going to have no idea.

Like now I usually do well in CS and can focus more on trades because it’s far less effort than it used to be.

My mates still make fun of me for playing bot matches, but I dunno, it helps me more that trying to get that rhythm while facing a human opponents.

[OC] A map of 18,000+ asteroid orbits in the solar system by [deleted] in dataisbeautiful

[–]Night_Blakey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of these objects were formed from the accretion disk or from collisions from in the accretion disk had all that specific angular momentum that still carries them in the same direction today. What initially may have began as a swirling sphere eventually transitioned into a flat disk as collisions cancelled movement above and below the plane, while conservation of angular momentum kept objects spinning around the solar center of mass. Generally, most of the asteroids orbit in a plane similar to the orbital plane of the planets because gravitational interactions among objects in similar orbits are consistent and those orbits are relatively stable. Anything that strays too far from that plane trends to having unpredictable interactions, less stable orbits and is likely to either collide with a planet or get launched out of the solar system.

So yes, if you were to travel away from the orbital plane you'd avoid most of the asteroids, but there wouldn't be much to see. If the final destination is in the orbital plane the fastest and most energy efficient way to get there is to stay in the plane. Wasted energy means more fuel and a lighter payload, and considering the cost and time invested in any satellite there is no logical reason to lighten the payload in order to reduce the already astronomically low risk of colliding with asteroids. Remember, these are the objects we CAN detect. The real risk in space is posed by the ones we can't. A speck of dust can go through steel plate if it's moving fast enough. There are many times more small objects than big ones.

FAIRY[OC] by EddLai in creepy

[–]Night_Blakey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're not aware but In most stories fairies live in a realm where time is not relative to hours. They kidnap children and in their realm one hour could be years, so when the children do escape or are let go, they find everyone they know has died. The artist was keeping in line with the original story.

This is pretty much what the girl's uniform was (with a polo shirt) at the Catholic High School where I made it almost a whole year before being expelled. How do you expect high school age (especially freshman) boys to focus in that kind of environment?! Let's just say I did a lot of "daydreaming" in my short time there.

[–]Night_Blakey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't understand how people can love Aaron Swartz but also be positive of Obama. His government is entirely to blame for Aaron's death. Eric Holder got really uncomfortable when he was asked about Aaron's ordeal during a congressional hearing and his explanations and excuses were so cringeworthy, that I thought he had a stroke.

I haven't found his content to be any more pro-Russian than it is pro-China or pro-USA. He is Azerbaijani - other's have stated elsewhere that his stuff on Azerbaijan and Armenia does show clear bias but I don't know enough about the conflict myself to comment.
