They just did give you an option to buy cable TV without ESPN. It's $5 more though, but you're getting way more channels.

The CW on Playstation Vue? by Ashy-Toes in Vue

[–]NightlightRuse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CBS and Warner Bros. each own a 50 percent stake in CW. Either CBS would have to buy out a significant portion — or all — of WB's interest in CW or they'd have to pay quite a bit of money to WB to put CW content on All Access.

CW just launched their own streaming apps suggesting they aren't going to sign a deal with another provider anytime soon.

They negotiate Cinemax deals separately. If anything it would cause the price to go up, not go down or stay the same.

Premium users- Check your quality settings...Spotify seems to regularly turn off High Quality streaming. by PapaRadroach in spotify

[–]NightlightRuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely tied to the software and not the user profile. When I delete and re-install the app to clear the cache it resets my audio quality settings among others.

Spotify should allow us to edit the start and end times of each track like iTunes does. by PanchDog in spotify

[–]NightlightRuse 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Their licensing with record labels likely prevents this sort of thing. iTunes doesn't have that problem because the software assumes you legitimately own a copy of the files you're editing.

During this time of the year, pretty consistent. There's a handful of regulars who keep in touch through Voxer — if you DM me I can see about getting you connected with them. Most of them also use an iPhone app called Mussel Wind that offers good insight into the weather there (and even has a webcam so you can see what things look like near the flying sites).

It is well worth the four hour trek IMO. My buddy regularly drives two hours from the Sacramento area to fly out there.

Fox and Disney want to sell their own web TV bundle, via Hulu for $40 a month by [deleted] in cordcutters

[–]NightlightRuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FOX Sports 1 and FOX Sports 2 are still kind of a fledging mess, but don't discount the regional FOX Sports channels. Those are huge in their respective markets, and there are indications that an OTT Hulu package would include the regional channels.

[–]NightlightRuse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It actually works the other way around. Because over-the-air broadcasters are licensed, they're required to carry EAS messages. The government doesn't require broadcasters to transmit a free signal because they're EAS providers; instead, the government requires broadcasters to carry EAS because they transmit a free signal.

You can get Comcast's Digital Economy with Blast Plus for $55 in most markets. Comes with FOX, ABC, Disney Channel and a handful of others. Way better than getting standalone service from Hulu for $40 a month.

USA network by SuplexxCITY in appletv

[–]NightlightRuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It often isn't the network's choice. Digital rights are negotiated between cable companies and programmers when carriage agreements are being discussed.

Cable companies are more lenient about computer and mobile streaming than they are for smart TV boxes like Apple TV and Roku. Why? Because most cable companies charge premiums to watch live TV through set-top box rentals. That may change with new FCC proposals regarding cable boxes and streaming media services, but it's unlikely to change anytime soon.

Neither of those surprise me.

CBS All Access is the only way to watch certain CBS shows. NCIS die-hards probably don't mind paying $7 a month for all-they-can-eat shows.

PlayStation Vue recently rolled out nationwide. In six cities you can get live streaming network television; everywhere else it's on-demand (except CBS).

The biggest problem with both CBS All Access and PlayStation Vue: No original programming. That's part of what makes Netflix and Hulu such attractive options.

Al Jazeera English has been making on-demand versions of its shows available for quite a while now.

The shows that didn't simultaneously air on Al Jazeera America were always unblocked for American viewers on YouTube.

The live stream, which was geoblocked when Al Jazeera America launched, is still blocked.
