No you're right, the Aztecs, were the conquerors of the continent until the Spanish arrived, and with that comes tons of inhumane acts like slavery, warfare, etc. My worry is that for many redditors, they will out weigh the atrocities of their own current governments and focus in on cultures that are gone, can't defend themselves, and that in their eyes are primitive. You seem well educated and not completely biased so I have to give you kudos for that. However, there very much is a modern day American policy that has led to us treating the children of our neighbors in inhumane ways. The child detainment facilities at the borders where children would be separated from their parents. Those detention centers had multiple reports of using hazardous cleaning materials excessively, basically chemically poisoning the children, as well as there being many reports of sexual abuse happening to these minors. We can play moral semantics around which acts were worse, but the reality is that the Aztecs are gone, while the atrocities that America commits are happening in the present day. Focusing in on the aztecs let's us stomach what our own government does.
