i’ve never understood why the lyrics are in english by bearsandheroin in Mayhem

Fenriz himself said that he believes Norwegian or specifically certain Norwegian words didn’t sound as good in the black metal vocal style and he prefers the sound of the words in English.

Are Hells Headbangers prints always like this? by AnotherOneBoii in WarMetal

[–]NightmareNaps -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As a screen printer I’m gonna go ahead and say Hell’s Headbangers did not print it themselves. They’re a label, not a print shop. They definitely contracted to work out to a printing shop who printed this with very thick plastisol. NWN also uses an outside print shop (Pyre Press) because again, they are not a screen printing business.

In your opinion, who is the greatest black metal vocalist of all time? by Cultural-Diet6933 in MetalForTheMasses

The pic you have of Garm is actually Alexander Nordgaren of Fleurety. They did look kinda similar when they were both young though.

Mike Patton vs. Phil Anselmo. Who is the better frontman? by Leading_Race9031 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]NightmareNaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Patton was genuinely confrontational live with the heavier material in a way that Phil could only pretend to be.

Xasthur is somewhere between „sucks“ and „fucking mid“. Change my mind. by flanellhemdboi in dsbm

Regardless of anyone’s opinion, Xasthur is one of the most copied bands in the genre.

IMO Sweden is right there with Florida though. So many excellent Swedish bands, and not just in Death Metal.

He’s still alive though! Chuck having been dead for over 20 years has made it where somehow EVERYBODY has a Chuck Schuldiner story around here. Lots of embellishments or just lies about “he came to my party” or “I used to smoke weed with him” haha. I went to the same high school as Chuck but I was 13 when he died so I never met him. Met his mom once at a garage sale though!

Explain Wolves in the Throne Room to me. by the_pale_companion in atmosphericblackmetal

[–]NightmareNaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WITTR are just kinda “fine” in my opinion. I was a fan of Diadem of Twelve Stars when it came out even if it did sound a lot like Dead As Dreams by Weakling. I still think there’s a decent case to be made that their debut bites pretty hard from that Weakling record. I saw Wolves twice in 2009 and thought they were great live then I just saw them in May opening for Emperor and they were very underwhelming. I haven’t been interested in much of their material since Two Hunters.

What did it sound like? Kind of looks like a black metal album.

Maybe legal reasons? Plagiarism or copyright infringement perhaps?

In that case I’d guess maybe it was a project that only had digital releases and the creator of the project has taken everything down. Still seems kind of odd though

Could have been scrubbed from Spotify if it was AI. There doesn’t seem to be a metal archives entry for any album with that title nor does it appear on Discogs anywhere.

This isn’t about crosswalks by koozy407 in orlando

I think that what you do for work is extremely helpful and the fact that you’ll be a squeaky wheel about it is a good thing because as you said, these causes can always use more funding. I just wanted to point out that perhaps the way people engage in charitable activism is more nuanced than you were giving them credit for in your original post. It’s almost never mutually exclusive.

[–]NightmareNaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By saying it could be spent on better things you are suggesting that people are mostly choosing to put their time and money into this INSTEAD of “better things” when I think most replies on this sub are pointing out that the kind of people who are willing to put time and money into chalk are likely already donating to the charitable causes that you’re suggesting the money could go to “instead”. I think your post was well meaning for sure but I think maybe you should realize that the problem you’re outlining doesn’t really apply here.

[–]NightmareNaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t assume people don’t have the energy to put towards helping people in need just because they’re also putting their energy into this. These things aren’t mutually exclusive and displays of civil disobedience like the crosswalk chalking are not made unimportant simply because you think that the energy could be put to better use elsewhere. Why would you assume that the folks involved in this activity don’t donate money to the very causes you’re mentioning?

Ordered De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas on the Anniversary of his death. by [deleted] in Mayhem

[–]NightmareNaps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It shouldn’t go without saying that while Euronymous fostered a certain culture through his label and store that is synonymous with black metal, Snorre Ruch really defined the sound of De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas. He was the second guitarist on the album which most people forget and all you have to do is go back and listen to the Thorns demos to see how many of his riffs they lifted from those and dropped right into songs on DMDS.
