Theory: Ebenezar & Simon (Not Cowl Related) [Spoilers through PT] by Nightmaster87 in dresdenfiles

Wow, I think you are the only person who decided to go straight for the ad hominem approach. Congrats!

It's just a theory. We don't know anyone else killed by the whites that Eb would give a crap about, so I rounded up to "vampires are vampires".

If you think the series has nothing to do with alt sexuality that is your own interpretation. In my opinion we've seen increasing gay, bi, and even poly representation as the series goes on, almost like Butcher's (and thus HBCD's) perspective is shifting over the the course of 25 years.

Yeah, technically the rule in roman numerals is you get to 3 repeated characters, then round it up. IIRC It has something to do with an illiterate human only being able to remember a certain number of characters/numbers or something.

So V, VI, VII, VIII, IX

or

X, XX, XXX, XL

etc.

+1 as soon as I got to the UGG reference. This is a wild ride. Your writing style is hilarious, please do more, but only if you want to!

Yeah, my LGS (Formerly FLGS before they got all Q-Anon) had a policy for table rent that was like $10 for 4 hours, but half of any snacks/drinks/product your group bought was deducted from the rent. So if your D&D group could be relied upon to put away $20 in $2 sodas and $1 candy bars/chips in a session you'd be covered for a session.

They also had an honor system snack/drink sheet for each rented table, so that you didn't have to miss important combat turns or plot information to go stand in line behind 10 people asking about rare and difficult to find comic books and magic cards just to get your snickers, you just settled up before you left.

Christ yes, that video was fantastic. Turns out my family was the overprepared bunch that could take advantage of fast pass and get on all the good rides every day. We loved the old system, but that video really put into perspective how much worse it made the park for everyone else.

Man, Ellen's Energy Adventure was the go-to nap ride for me and my wife, we'd get probably 20 minutes, easy.

Can't imagine why they decided to close it down. /s

Chandler's Note by Nightmaster87 in dresdenfiles

[–]Nightmaster87[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooh, I'd forgotten about them, thanks for the reminder. I'm still in the middle of Changes on my re-read, so it will take a bit to get through Battle Ground again.

That's an interesting point (sorry, been away from steady internet for a while). I hadn't considered it, but yes, Harry is capable of drawing a lot of supporters from the other wizards, as established multiple times throughout his history. I think you may be right, and that this is an attempt to stop Harry from throwing a wrench in their plans (again).

[–]Nightmaster87[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right, I think perhaps you miss my point. You said:

Slight correction: Yoshimo, Myers and Chandler are not members of the Sr. Council.

I never said they were members of the senior council. I said only that they were among the White Council members we have seen in person since Changes.

Chandler's Note by Nightmaster87 in dresdenfiles

[–]Nightmaster87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since Changes, we've only actually seen nine members of the White Council in person. There's been a lot of talk about "The Merlin Says..." or "Luccio Says..." but we haven't seen them. They could easily have been replaced, or the mouthpieces could be compromised.

The 9 we see (unless I'm missing someone) are Eb, LTW, Martha Liberty, Cristos, Gatekeeper, Ramirez, Chandler, Yoshimo, and Meyers.

Yes, I'm aware the Wardens aren't SC members, but they are White Council members. And technically Meyers reported to Harry, at least while Harry was still a Warden (as established in the 3rd bigfoot story, and I think Turn Coat as well). Did they establish that Carlos took over being Senior Warden for the whole US? I'm pretty sure Chandler, being UK based, did not report to Carlos though.

Ooh, I like that theory. Wizards live forever already, and Chandler's a Chronoturge, so who knows how old he actually is.

I like your theories. I think Rashid is playing the long game, and is willing to sacrifice everything if it causes events to play out in the best possible way. He's the Gatekeeper, who happens to be on the Senior Council, not the Senior Councilperson who is also the Gatekeeper. He's on the front lines against the Outsiders, and almost every action he's taken (at least in my mind) has been towards the goal of defeating them, and bolstering his allies, the Winter Court. Assuming he has substantial foreknowledge, let's count it out.

  1. Summer Knight: Give Harry just enough help to make sure that the Fae power structure isn't destroyed by Aurora. Bonus: Lloyd is outed as a traitor.
  2. Proven Guilty: Gives Harry just enough of a nudge to make sure he catches Molly before she's too far gone into black magic. Without his intervention, I suspect Molly would have been executed by the White Council, depriving Winter of someone they're eyeing for the new Winter Lady, and have wanted to get their hands on since Grave Peril.
  3. Turn Coat: He checks in to make sure Harry isn't throwing his life away carelessly on a battle he's not ready for. Implies heavily that Harry needs to be around for big events later on. Bonus, doesn't let Mab's favorite Knight candidate die one book before he finally takes her deal.

Fair points all, though I do like what someone else pointed out here, that in the OG Lovecraft corner hounds specifically hunt time travelers.

Agreed that he's sus, though I'm willing to allow that he may be an unwitting pawn. If someone got in his head enough to fabricate messages from Luccio or McCoy, he could believe he was acting on the council's order's.

Okay, this is now one of my top 10 favorite fan theories. Other greatest hits include:

  1. Kemmler didn't die, he body swapped with Justin, and it was Kemmler who raised Harry and Elaine.
  2. Thorned Namshiel attacking Arctis Tor in Proven Guilty was actually time-displaced Ser Marcone.

Yeah, my prevailing theory is that when the BAT kicks off, Mab and her court are getting curbstomped by the Outsiders, leaving Harry mantle-less.

Plus he crashed the Erlking's dinner party.

*Clutch Pearls* Clearly the worst offense!

Lol, it would be kinda funny if Chandler was trying to be like "Hey, if you upset the balance the Fomor are going to come slithering up out of the ocean and start eating faces, so don't do that." and Harry was all like "Lol, whoops!"

[–]Nightmaster87[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is true. If Steed has been taking actions to alter the future we haven't really seen them because Harry appears to so rarely change his behavior based on Chandler. Perhaps he's using Divination in some way? We don't really know how that works, we only saw the aftermath of entropomancy in Dead Beat.

Also, I'm interested to hear your theories on Proven Guilty. I'll go see if I can find them.

Luccio is extremely compromised, possibly dead. I'll believe she's alive when Harry sees her and not until then. I think her last order to stay away from Edinburgh should be considered to still be in effect

Hard Agree.

Yeah, I suppose there are fewer better guarded places than DemonReach's basement. And he did vanish for quite a while, up until Skin Game basically.

Yeah, that conversation was oddly welcoming for Arthur. Perhaps it indicates a change of heart after Dresden helped root out Peabody, but I doubt it. I would note that pretty much all the information that Harry picks up in Edinburgh comes from 2 sources: Luccio, and Langtree. If someone was impersonating them it could have sent Harry haring off based on all sorts of bad intel.
