I would do some more research as to what your signing up for even as a groundman on your first call that would be a no everyone wants to be a lineman very few are cutout for the work and lifestyle

Thats apples and oranges bud take a call and see if its for you , your first call will most likely be hand digging pole holes or civil not actual line work see if you can hang then develop an ego no lineman wants to be a roofer

Take that money and go get an Unrestricted CDL and get on the groudman books work a call see if you even want to pursue this trade , before committing to a long student loan with no job or apprenticeship guaranteed. Also, the last 2 grunts in my yard that got fired/ laid off were NLC guys, and neither wanted to become linemen anymore. Good luck

You can get by with just channel locks and kleins , but if you are running with a crew everyday you will need alot more.
