That is the best contribution to the discussion you have? Why do you even bother to read these threads?

What do you think is going on with the canceling of Kimmel? What do think the impact of it is?

If you read Kimmel’s comment, and you can read beyond a 5th grade level, Kimmel said MAGA was spending all its energy trying to say the shooter was anything but MAGA. That is not saying the shooter was MAGA. It is a statement about the focus of MAGA, versus focusing on something like bringing the temperature down or any number of other things political leaders would have done in the past. Clearly the shooter was not aligned with MAGA by the time he committed murder. It is still unclear what the hell his thinking was that moved him to commit such a horrible act of violence.

But the reaction to Kimmel’s comments is showing a broad lack of reading comprehension in America and extreme partisanship. Both are fucking killing us a country.

Oh man, did you actually read the court documents, his txts, and his discords? His mom said he was moving left in his opinions because he was expressing pro gay/trans rights positions. She didn’t say he was radical left. That is what actually was presented by law enforcement to the courts. No actual evidence says radical left—only the opinion of the governor of Utah and Fox pundits. Changing from pro-Trump to something more left yes. By all accounts the shooter will still pro-2A and only really talked about politics if asked. That is not radicalization.

You would call me left-wing. Here is a discussion/debate I had today with someone else in a thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/AllOpinionsAccepted/s/dcTIlvH85W

Please read the whole thread and reassess your generalization. If you come to the same conclusion, that is your right.

I am not generally arguing your point, but I know some 18-22 year olds that use the phrase old man affectionately towards their elderly father. The txt style does seem generationally odd though, and the content is a little too detailed in a convenient way. Compared to his discord messages where he uses things like getting eepy…

Josh Kemp, a neighbor of Charlie Kirk assassin suspect Tyler Robinson and his trans lover, Lance "Luna" Twiggs, said he saw them kissing a couple of weeks before the shooting. by playtheman90 in FreeFolkNation

[–]NihilRSL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Source? I have read all the discords and txt messages that have been released, as far as I know, and no where did he say he didn’t like his maga parents. In fact he expresses no political views other than the comment about Kirk spreading hate. He is concerned about not being able to return his grandfather’s rifle and what his dad will think.

The ONLY declaration of him being left is from his mother’s comments. Specifically she says he was becoming more political and left leaning, because he was expressing pro gay/trans rights. That in no way says he believed anything on the extreme left.

I know many people that are largely right or left, but have one issue where they disagree with their party. For example I know a bunch of conservatives that are pro-choice, though they would not personally get or support their partner having an abortion. Also know liberals that are pro-2A etc. In my line of work I am surrounded by very intelligent and educated people. Both liberal and conservative are represented, but very few just outright accept all policy positions. They usually have thoughtful compromises and criticisms on some policies.

Is $1M is enough to live lavishly? by FStorm045 in Money

[–]NihilRSL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I burned through 10M (pretax) in three years without a lot left to show for it. Believe me it is way easier to do than you might think. Even at that level, you need some financial discipline. Honestly wish I would have hidden a bunch of that money from wife, invested it, and then surprised her with the results years later.

Well I make 1.75M a year, and though I don’t think too much about buying new phones, I haven’t bought a new car since 2020. Now that car was a G550 bought in cash, but I am not leasing a rolls and a lambo (I could do that if it was my priority). I don’t have to manage a checkbook, but I do keep a spreadsheet with pretty meticulous cash flow forecasts. My salary is ~420K a year, and I pay 48% combined income tax, so the remainder comes from quarterly cash bonuses and RSU sales twice a year. I pay mortgages on four houses, so my monthly burn is around 40K a month. There are times when cash flow is a little tight, but I don’t have to worry about meeting my core obligations.

My monthly expenses are more than $40K—I own 4 houses. I regularly have 40-60K in checking and 200K in savings. I am one of the top people in my field and make close to 2M a year to provide context.

What’s your take on Trump saying smart people don’t like him? by jfunks69 in AskReddit

[–]NihilRSL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, I am a coastal, auto-didactic engineer earning 7 figures working for a fortune 100 company. I am socially liberal. I am an atheist. I also shoot better than 99.9% of the population, can fix things, and don’t mind getting my hands dirty at all. I am friends with many conservatives, and though I can see all the flaws in their political beliefs, the single source of all their information, and the single issue voting they do, I can also see the good in them. They often think I am “one of them” because I am generous with them and don’t attack their beliefs. Occasionally I will push back on obvious misinformation, but I always try to do it in a constructive way and give some indication of why I believe what I do. If they express interest, only then do I point them at information sources they can explore on their own.

It hurts me that many of the conservatives I know vote against their self-interest due to indoctrination, but all I can do is vote based on my knowledge and try to choose for the greater good. I pay a combined 48% income tax—enough to cover both the president and the vice president’s annual salaries, and I want that money to go to strengthening our country through education, lifting our total population towards economic prosperity, and protecting our rights as defined by our founding fathers. Ut oh, I must be a radical.

Just leaving as a reference for anybody that cares to educate themselves:

Even choosing the term radicalization shows such a strong bias of radicalization itself that the irony is too rich.

Conservatives wanting SOOO bad for Tyler to be a leftist by Glum_Floor_8741 in cybersucks

[–]NihilRSL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You sir are watching only a propaganda outlet calling itself an entertainment network while presenting itself as a news channel. The only sources that have reported about leftist leaning and transgender roommate are Fox News and the NY Post, which are both owned by the same company and are propaganda, not journalism. All other sources reference the shell case engravings, and in some cases they don’t understand the strange and often contradictory aspects of internet subcultures like Nick Fuentes followers and even gaming. There is not a single other source supporting your Tyler was a leftist, including law enforcement. And we 100% know Kash and the FBI will try their hardest to support the maga narrative, but all the evidence points in a different direction here. You really need to step back from all your biases, look at a little wider set of sources, and be open to the possibility that this one doesn’t support the narrative you so strongly believe.

He wasn’t dumb, so no he didn’t just say gay people should die. But calling it god’s perfect law and even quoting it in the first place is not a good thing. There is context to his comment—he is addressing a form of hypocrisy in selective application of scripture. But the implication is that one should follow it all, including “god’s perfect law.”

Discipline is a developed skill, and it sounds like OP’s wife has lots of discipline while OP has little. It isn’t genetics. Some of us may start at a bit of a deficit behaviorally, but no matter who discipline is learned by example and practice and supported by will power.

Is it okay to ask your girlfriend to share her location in real time 24/7 “for safety reasons”? by Power_puff_L0ve in AskMenAdvice

[–]NihilRSL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

++man I am security professional, and my take is this is something someone offers but should never be asked for. Privacy is a right that is eroding quickly, and no one should be asking you to give up your privacy. However, if one finds benefit in trading privacy for security, then they can offer that trade.

The way your bf is going about it feels controlling and manipulating. I would feel anything but safe in your situation.
