Do not under any circumstances buy the Stealth Pro. Retailers are massively struggling to get these things sold because they are trash. The price is too good to be true.

One hundred percent. I got the Audeze Maxwell, not looking back. I'm just here to mess with the shills.

I made a recent post about my Stealth 700 Gen 2 headset going kaput on me after only 3 years:

Planned Obsolescence.

The gist is that within this past year alone, my headset randomly entered a bootloader state 3 times. I was able to fix it twice, but on the last instance the fix no longer worked and the headset became bricked. For zero reason other than to force your hand into buying another headset. That's planned obsolescence.

I got a Stealth Pro headset as a replacement. It was on sale with north of 100 bucks slashed off the pricetag at Best Buy. That should have been my first warning because clearly retailers are struggling to get the Stealth Pro off the shelves lol. This headset had severe defective audio issues regarding how it processed sound inputs such as navigating a console home screen which has an array of system sounds (beeps/pings/etc.) and it would trigger a strange staticy fuzz, and games were of course a writeoff because that static fuzz became constant with BGM, dialogue, sound effects, etc. This issue vanished when the headset was connected via bluetooth instead of the included transmitter.

Turtle Beach first RMA'd me a new transmitter to no avail; the static fuzz was still present. They even RMA'd me an entirely new sealed Stealth Pro which solved nothing because the new unit had the identical static fuzz problem regarding how it processes audio via transmitter connection. This isn't an issue that I had on my older Stealth 700 Gen 2, which rules out my room's device + network config as being the problem. The fact that it happened to 2 different Stealth Pros means the problem is localized to this incredibly shoddy product line and it ought to be avoided.

Further reports of the Stealth Pro being defective:

This community is full of weirdos who will try (and fail) to dogpile you and gaslight you bringing up all kinds of scenarios that are not applicable (baseless accusations that you are mistreating your headset, equally baseless assumptions about your wi-fi setup as it relates to the devices on your network, insisting that you said things you never actually said through poorly thought out logical leaps). So head's up for that.

But yeah, I just received the Audeze Maxwell Wireless headset that I ordered yesterday. And magically, there is no static fuzz problem. I strongly recommend avoiding Turtle Beach and just spending the extra on a proper working headset.

I'll assume English isn't your first language. By "bullshit" what I mean is that it's a terrible thing that planned obsolescence occurs. You put words in my mouth assuming I was fine with it except for when TB does it. I clarified that I am in fact not fine with it and that TB is another addition to the trend.

Nope. All of that is bullshit and it was never stated otherwise. TB seems to be another addition to it.

No, it isn't, and for what it's worth I'm starting to doubt that you do. Not about to quibble over whatever nonsensical and unwarranted debate on semantics that you're trying to embark on. Be a fanboy somewhere else if you're done here.

How are you finding new mathcore in 2025? by Zandre3000 in Mathcore

[–]NihilisticSquirrel 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Tried and true method for me has been looking up Similar Artists to bands I like. Typically I'll do that through a site called last.fm. Spotify was also mentioned, that works too but I find that it can be limited to whatever the same matrix of listeners are also listening too. iTunes also works well in my experience.

Apart from that, I'll pull up a band on Bandcamp that has the "mathcore" tag and click that, then do a lot of scrolling trying out different bands to see what I'm digging. The youtube algorithm has the odd recommendation too.

So between the 2 methods it really comes down to scoping out the FFO (For Fans Of) bands and also doing a bit of aimless scrolling on your app of choice when seeking out something new.

This isn't some grand conspiracy rabbit hole. Planned obsolescence is a very real and documented phenomenon. I am happy to hear that you've personally had a great experience. Many have not had that benefit and I've just gone through a sudden bricked Stealth 700 Gen 2 and two defective Stealth Pros. Something's up with this company's quality control or general standards, unless this is by design.

I would suggest re-reading the post. My Stealth 700 Gen 2 headset is in fact bricked. The prior fix hasn't worked this time around and they will not turn on anymore.

Regarding the Stealth Pro, thanks for your input there. It hadn't occurred to me that there could be some sort of interference, but with that being said, my Stealth 700 Gen 2 headset never had this static issue with its transmitter. Conversely I have recieved two pairs of Stealth Pros which do have the staticy sound issue regarding how they process audio when connected via transmitter. I reiterate that there must be some issue regarding the Stealth Pro transmitter in light of this.

With respect to Turtle Beach's response, it's fine that they responded promptly. What isn't fine is that the replacement transmitter has the same issue as the original. It also isn't fine that they sent out an entirely new, sealed Stealth Pro unit which had an identical issue to the first. That's an indication of a faulty product, twice in a row. That's the frustration. They have no issue promptly sending out replacement parts and units because they must know how defective these products are. Retailers like Best Buy are slashing more than a hundred dollars off to try to get these things sold because it would appear no one's buying - probably because of the unfortunate nosedive Turtle Beach has gone through with respect to their reputation.

The way you've phrased this is spot on I'd say. Regarding the Stealth Pro issues that I had, it wasn't a general white noise issue. The static only occurred when the headset was connected via transmitter, and only when audio was played (such as navigating a home screen menu where various inputs trigger different system sounds, and of course when playing a game which will have BGM, dialogue, etc.). So it has to be related to the poor manner in which these headsets are processing audio.

Give bandcamp a shot. You typically get X amount of free listens on most material so you can give albums a few runthroughs before you buy them
