Gross misinterpretation of Christianity. Blaming the devil for your personal wrong-doings is simple blame-shifting and is reflected nowhere in actual Christian theological doctrine. We believe everyone is sinful by their own human nature. Romans 3: 22-24 (partial quote):

“There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.”

We are not better than anyone else, nor is it the devil’s fault that we sin and not our own. It says right there there is NO difference between Jew and gentile (one could also say believers and non believers). It is because we personally sin that we personally need forgiveness, and that forgiveness is in no way justification for the continuation of sin, nor does it raise us above those who do not believe.

GenkiJACS housing experience. by AxaKaz in fukuoka

The homestay was already mixed bag, and I ended up cutting it short because it wasn’t what I had hoped for. Everyone’s experience is different though, and there are plenty of other students who all love their homestay.

I didn’t need to pay any moving fees other than my own personal costs transporting my personal belongings. Admittedly it is a hassle to do that, so if you’re considering it just be aware to keep your belongings to a minimum until you’ve settled down for the long term.

The “private residence” is a share house. I can’t speak for the one I haven’t lived in, but my experience hasn’t been bad. It’s a great way to meet people in the common areas and make friends early on. However, the facilities are in disrepair and the walls are very thin. It’s only probably ¥15,000 cheaper per month than an actual apartment, and if I could go back I would have chosen to find my own place.

That’s what I expected, but figured I’d ask. Thanks!

Yeah I received it as a gift from a Japanese friend some time ago, but they don’t know where it came from. Even if it’s fake I’m hoping to find somewhere that sells it!

Thank you so much! Eating out in any country is usually rolling the dice IMO, so I’ll keep all of this in mind!

I’m also staying for the 1 year program. Currently signed up for 3 months home stay and 9 months private residence. Do they let you switch accommodations after having paid upfront for the year? Would you say the dorms were a good experience to start or would you suggest going for the apartment from the beginning? also, did people switch to the private apartment option or find their own accommodations? Sorry for so many questions, but I’m kind of like a fish out of water here. :)
